Holy crap. Go buy lottery tickets. That has challenge written all over it.
I just drove the probe for the first time other than putting it on the trailer. It runs and shifts well. It seems a little down on power.
Brakes work well, front right makes a noise. Temp got up to 190 ish pretty quickly. Exhaust sounds terrible. I want to get it on a lift before I drive it further.
Nicest free car I have ever owned.
Got a free moment to play with the car tonight. This past weekend was crazy and I made no progress.
Anyways did a compression test and we were even across the board at about 160. There was a slight variation of a psi or 2 but I was very happy with the results overall.
I also went through the boxes of spare parts. Unbelievably the deal gets even better! I will take some pictures tomorrow of all the new parts that were bagged up in the trunk.

Not sure if I feel right entering it in the challenge. I know it fits the rules because it was not an inside deal but I don't know...
+1 for jealous. What an awesome story and an awesome score. Psyched that you are going to take it out and Chump it soon. It looks VERY well built. Hopefully a fluids change, systems check, a thorough nut & bolt, some new shoes and she'll be ready for the track.
Personally I think you should bring her to the Challenge (what would that make, 4 cars?) 'cause I would love to see her. I believe a gutted, roof removed Probe GT was a serious LeMons winner for a year or two. Strong chassis.
Worked on the Probe some. I need to get it out of the garage so I can start the s10 engine swap.
I stated going through the boxes in the trunk. I discovered this one wrapped in two plastic bags.
Never heard of them... a quick trip to the internet reveals lots of cool probe / mx6 parts.
I wonder what is inside?
A whole bunch of Awesome! Now I need to install them. A little digging under the rear reveals both trailing arm bushings are shot and the bolts are rusted solidly to the metal inserts inside the bushings.
One subframe bolt in the back was stripped. I ended up cutting it out and welding in a new captive nut. Bottomed everything up and installed the new rotors, calipers and pads that were also in the trunk.
Lastly I removed the kyb / eBay coilover setup and installed the new k sport coilover that were also in the trunk.
Now I need to source a bigger rear sway bar and install all the front components.
So far I have spent a little over a $100 transfering the title. I spent approximately $20 on new bolts at the local ACE. I bought new plugs, oil and a filter for another $50. The car did not have a spline tool to remove the lugs. Scratch another $7 bucks.
Still sub $200
You are either a Really REALLY Good Person.....Or I am, well......
Not................. or both.
I've got Nuthin' that express's my Awe.
Wow, congratulations, that is unbelievable! Cool car. That's the KL engine that people seem to like right?
Wow you hit the jackpot, thats probably about 2k worth of brand new parts alone between the king6 stuff and the coilovers. He only recently started making the front control arms too.
IIRC, you can use a Contour SVT rear sway bar or the 2001 v6 626 rear bar as an upgrade, Moog brand Altima end links are also a beefy upgrade to go along with (unsure on year). AWR racing and Addco make aftermarket sway bar solutions.

I believe this is karma paying jeremy back for not being a douche. He really is a good guy.
Wow, that's a very cool find. I had one of these back in the 90s, it was the first car I bought for myself after getting a real job out of college.
Random advice, be very careful if/when you take the upper intake manifold off. There's a vacuum reservoir bolted to the bottom of the plenum, and the lines from it go to the lower half of the manifold. It's really easy to snap the nipple off the reservoir when lifting the top off if you don't realize that it's still connected by that vacuum line...
Around here Probes have practically vanished, I don't remember the last time I saw one. This was mine:
