I can't honestly say that "I've always wanted a hearse", but when I offered my beat up '05 Cayenne with a blown air strut on FB Marketplace, a trade was offered.
"Daily driver" + "1977 Cadillac Hearse" = How can a man say no.
So, Walmart parking lot at dusk. Titles and keys exchanged. I now have a Hearse.
I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. No plans for a build yet, it's pretty cool just how it sits. Maybe I'll start with a refresh of the stickers and polish the wheels.
Excellent. I probably would have made that trade too.
This is the stuff of legend
Just needs twin-turbo LS and AWD...
Spinners. Big dumb chrome spinners is what it needs.
That's freaking sweet.
Drop it down and lots of spokes.
Heres some inspiration for you courtesy of Arne from AMS performance.
A slab hearse would be awesome too

I actually think the wheels that are on it look about perfect. It seems pretty clean on the exterior too.
Nice, welcome to the club!
Be prepared for far more attention than you expect when you drive it.
I see suicide doors on the rear, is there a b pillar with the doors open?
Any jump seats in the back?
Big block?

please! no zombie stuff
I'm a little slow. I first looked to see when the thread was started.
Now I get it. Yeah, no zombie stuff!
Cool trade, too!
I'm using this as a case study for SWMBO ---see: that guy's SWMBO "made him" get rid of a worn Porsche and NOW LOOK WHAT is in his driveway! .....My hoard is that much safer as a result. Thanks AAZCD for taking one for the team.
Seriously, though cool car --long term you could get an early 50's coupe or truck of some kind and switch over various parts/seats /this engine/running gear and have a Heckuva street rod.
Best trade in the history of trades, for both parties. Well done.
I have some air boat headers that would be great shooting out the fenders open.

77-79 are all 425.
Technically still a big block just tiny bore. Same stroke as a 472.

Yes, 425 Big Block, suicide doors with just the base of a B pillar, bench seat behind the front seats. Pretty straight and no structural rust, but a few big spots of surface that are flaking from the previous repaint.
The previous - previous owner was on a cross country drive from Kentucky to the West Coast for a wedding and the water pump blew. Two day wait for parts and he had to go. He sold it to the current previous owner, who had it for about a year. He drove it to work at a church, but was asked not to park it in front. He is also a project guy and has always wanted a Cayenne. Mine still drove surprisingly well with an exploded strut, so he may take a week or two of figurin' before he replaces the air, or goes all 4 corners on springs. The rest of the stuff it needs is either optional or deferrable. I think we both did well.
That's about it for Forum time today. I was on the road all morning doing another thing that just 'had to be done'.
No. More. Cars. Until I get rid of one or two. This one makes sense in a lot of ways... I may explain later in another thread. This thread is about the 'Last Responder'. Pics and ideas on that tomorrow night probably. Now I have to go figure out what to do with the pile of [used] baby wipes - I just had the septic tank pumped and they don't take them. ...enough on that.
Did you accidentally turn one project car into two projects?

Ok. I need that sticker. Also- did you not just trade away a cayenne? Did you have more than one?
Cool project. How's the interior?
I had a mid 80s hearse, loved that thing. Got 17mpg with cold air and still had the factory leveling rear air. Thing rode like a Cadillac, it was a 4.9 fwd one. I'd love an old one with an ls.
In reply to Mndsm :
Evidence suggest he had atleast 2. Now has atleast one.
You know what I just thought of? It's a serious project, but, cut the top off the back and make it like a Subaru Baja with four doors and a little bed in the back.
The wheels are great, it just needs more tire and sidewall to fix things up. Cool cool cool.
