That's Purdy!
Your making me look at CL now too. Looks crazy fun
I will keep watching this and enjoying. If there is a race in central New York I would be interested to go see one. I don't need a personal guide, if you have a website to check out I would appreciate that.
Thanks
Nick

Check out south shore outboard association. They run an event at Crystal lake NY. Not sure how close to you that would be. But they also run mod motor class boat there which would be fun to check out.
Thanks for the info. It looks like Crystal Lake is only about 70 miles from here. That may be a nice early fall trip to see that.
Saw THIS on FBM and thought of this thread. $600 in NY if you're brave.

That's a sea flea!
I considered building one of these for a few years before I decided to dive into the pool head first instead of easing into the shallow end to test the water.
Used a 5.5mm socket tonight. I think it's the only place I've ever had to do so.
Motor is very nearly ready to test fire.
Welp, THIS ONE is close.
If it's made with marine plywood that's a pretty fair price.
Here's a website with some sea flea info. Poster is correct about it being a popular mechanics design. Not sure I would get in it with a 25hp on the back.

The other thing I will say is that you can pick up a race hydro for not a lot more money 500-800 for a 20ss hydroplane or a c class hydroplane. But then you need to be a little more fussy about what motor you strap on the back.
As demonstrated in this photo there is a million things in my garage. But there's no metric key stock to finish off installing the flywheel.
Edit: unsure why the motor is 90* off in the photo I assure you it's not that way in real life.
When you need to know exactly where top dead center is but you don't want to buy the specialty tool.
One offshore made dial indicator and the base of a ruined plug makes the magic happen.

It sounds wicked, I'm sure my neighbours think otherwise.
Nothing sounded better to me than my tower of power running on the earmuffs fogging out the back yard. True sign of spring! Lol.

I totally get that. It was nice to smell the fogging oil and assembly lube burning off.
Last nights mini project we getting the deadman's throttle cleaned up. It's a late 70s or early 80 Keller. Pretty cool little piece of work. The fact it was left outside for a few decades and still it completely usable speaks to the quality of the piece.
Next weekend is go time weather permeating. Steering rope got installed with some expert help. Fired the engine once more just to hear it make noises for a minute. Steering bar arrived today. Just waiting in throttle cable bracket to arrive.

That looks so awesome! I keep sharing your progress with one of my woodworking friends. Can't wait for you to hit the water with it.

I'll do my best to keep a record of the shake down runs.
It's all new to me but I've got some experience local racers to help me get the bugs out of the set up.
You'll need to log in to post.
