This is a 1969 Chevrolet C/20 Custom Camper pickup truck. Fans of the show Street Outlaws may recognize this as the same truck the Farm Truck is. This is also a farm truck.
Yes, that is a proper big block. It's a factory 396! This truck is also optioned out with power steering, power brakes, a 4-barrel carburetor, automatic transmission, and dual exhaust with aftermarket headers.
The interior is perfect truck including the blanket. This truck was also factory A/C, although the compressor is long gone.
$950 squids and we were the owners. The potential list seemed daunting. She had sat in a field for almost 4 years and desperately needed a tune-up, the brakes were wonky, and the tires were clearly closer to a pentagon than a circle. But she ran and drove with just 77K original miles.
18 minutes later after stopping for $15 worth of 92-octane we had arrived at our destination.
Where I promptly sold her off for $1500 squids. Yes fans, that was a $535 profit for 18 minutes of work!

Had someone lined up already Javelin? Or did someone want it bad enough to buy it off you at the gas stop? Either way that's a pretty ROI.

I had somebody I knew would be interested. If you play this game long enough, you get to know a lot of people. Who buys, who sells, who wants what. I know a guy with a huge collection of classics that loves stuff like this so I just drove it to him to show it off and he waved enough money in my face to make me walk home. Honestly, I left quite a bit on the table. He's going to do all of the actual work to it and then probably sell it for $3-$4K, easily. Sometimes you only have time to be the middleman, and I was it this time.

I'm curious what you do if the purchase price is documented on the bill of sale or title? In my case, I bought a non-starting saturn SL2 for $560 last month. After putting on a shorter serpentine belt to bypass the locked up A/C compressor, it runs great. I am now selling it for $1100.
What is the new buyer going to say/think when they notice that the PO put the $560 purchase price on the title?

Tell them you bought it non-running. They are buying a running driving car. I guess I wouldn't be afraid of telling them that much truth.

I don't worry about it. Most of the time I've fixed some major problem and have receipts to back it up, so it's not really an issue.
Thats some quick cash. I also just tell people i fixed the car if they ask why the price diffrence, with parts receipts usually in the glovebox.
That truck would be a $5000 truck around here!

Always take the easy money - it's the sure-bet.

Nicely done! Do you have a dealer's license or a limit of cars you can sell within a years time?

I have an automotive business license. As long as I don't have more than three vehicles for sale simultaneously, then I don't need to be a dealer. It's really not necessary though. Every state is different, but here in Washington you can buy/sell up to 3 cars per year, per person. If you transfer within 15 days, you don't even have to pay the license and tab fees.
