Have you considered listing it on Hemmings?

I'd also keep putting it back up on Craigslist and ignore the shiny happy people that keep flagging it

I love it, that's a beautiful car!

It was a well written ad for a nice car that has an interesting history. It's also a 4 dr, 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree. I could be wrong, but I thought that was a pretty fair assessment of it's value.

I honestly didn't even think about Hemmings, I can't post my ad on craigslist again for 48 hours (rules), and I really didn't think $8400 was asking TOO too much... but over the 10 days I got a chance to watch a lot of Impalas sell on e-bay. I use the term "sell" loosely because not one of them got their asking price, or met their reserve value, and all were priced at twice the price of mine (which makes sense because they were 2-door, V8's). In the end, I'm not entirely convinced that people buy cars like these on e-bay...

Anyhoo, the e-bay and craigslist experiences were enough for me to say "well, we gave it a 'go' and it didn't work out"

So the car stays (now with wife approval )

Did some work on the back wall of the garage, and got the door to close to an acceptable level for the winter. I'll get some funds together over the wet season and go at it next summer.

It's free to relist on eBay, and not at all unusual for it to sell the second or third time around. BUT, keep it if you want it! You've got too much into it to let it go easily.

" . . . a Bring a Trailer feature would be stinking awesome."

Maybe offer them a exclusive now that you have a new price for it. They ask for a firm selling price _no auction,) but that's probably just the right car/back-story/personality that they would love.

Certainly worth an email before you re-list/list elsewhere.

Might be best to figure a way to secure the door. Being left open a crack will surely attract sticky fingers. You could bolt on some pieces of chain to prevent it from being opened beyond what it is, and cover the gap from the inside with something to hide the contents.

You need to seal that door up somehow, or else you will have mouse issues.

I'm going to drill a hole in the door rail and stick a lock on it so it can't be opened further. I haven't really figured out how I'm going to seal that door up though. Maybe a thread in a different section is in order as we're kind of polluting the classifieds.

On another note, I got "wife approval" to build an addition to the garage but it comes with a couple stipulations:

woah! did I just figure out how to type in red?

anyhoo, the stipulations:

1) No money from pay checks

2) No money from bank accounts (we don't have a lot of money these days)

So! I'm going to spend this winter trying to raise funds (e-bay sales, turking, etc) and I'll pool my resources together next July to start the addition. We'll see how this goes

Thanks everyone for all your help while this was up on ebay though! It certainly got my ad lots of attention

Thought, it appears to be one those old style one piece doors, just put a clearance bump on it.

Of course! Putting some sort of bump out in the door makes perfect sense.

Would you be able to gain a little room by removing the front and rear bumpers for the winter?

It would be easier than modifying the garage.
