SOLD
Totally Mine and associated. 2000 Honda Insight with 154k miles on it. I purchased it last year to save money and it has definitely done that. Insurance is cheap, gas is cheap, consumables last forever and are cheap, if you keep it 5 years it'll pay for itself in gas savings. Asking $4500 for it.
The Good.
I had to do a bit of deferred maintenance to the car when I got it so your getting one that shouldn't need anything for a good long time.
- BRAND NEW Hybrid Revolt Battery w/2 year warranty.
- OEM RE92 Bridgestones with about 1500 miles on them.
- ECM replaced under warranty by Honda per TSB 07-038
- New EGR Valve and EGR system cleaned
- New NTK o2 upstream sensor
- New Catalytic Converters Upstream and Down (replaced the units the PO hollowed out)
- Body is in good shape, minor dents and dings here and there, paint is not sunburnt.
- A/C compressor replaced and freon recharged.
- Correct cylinder matched spark plugs for the head stampings.
- New rear transmission/engine mount.
The Bad
It's a pretty short list now that I've caught it up on all the maintenance, and most are issues that all Insights from this era have.
- 3-2 downshift grind if going over 20mph (pretty common from what I have seen on the forums)
- Might need new rotors in the front as it has a little vibration when stopping.
That's pretty much it. If you have any questions let me know. When I bought it I flew in and drove it home over 500 miles, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country. Edit: My phone is 352-353-eight7oh3
Do you have the rear wheel skirts?
What sort of bike are you looking to acquire (leading question)?
Those are the rear wheel skirts, the PO had them cut out at a body shop, since he "didn't like the way it looked with the wheels covered up"
I'm looking at getting a Suzuki V-Strom 650 once this thing is out of here.
Ah, now I can see what he did. Weird.
The V-Strom is a pretty fantastic machine. The only reason I asked was I have been casually looking for an Insight and I happen to have an '89 Honda Hawk GT (NT650) with less than 12K on the clock. It is less powerful than the twin you are looking at but a really nice bike to ride. Totally stock except for upgraded SS brake hoses. I have a 2 Bros pipe and a jet kit for it which I never installed and some shorty rear signals to replace the big factory jobs, again, also not installed.

I'm trying to stay away from carbed bikes this time, my last 3 have had carbs and I think it's time for me to step into the 20th century and get an FI bike, thanks for the offer anyways.

But then it wouldn't get 60mpg...
Looks much nicer with the fender skirts cut out like that. Who cares if it cost 1.5 mpg!
In reply to Gearheadotaku:
It looked real goofy when I got it, as the wheels were very tucked in under the car, I added some 2 inch spacers to get the track width out to the edges to fill that gap and make it look less silly.

If anyone wants to buy this car and put the wheel covers back to stock, i have a couple extra pairs i will sell. But, they are not red.
These are great cars, you won't regret buying it if you understand it's interior size limitations and double clutch your downshifts! I had the 2nd gear synchro "problem" and it wasn't a problem really.
They literally run for eternity and have a timing chain. No belts here. It's like the perfect commuter. More fun to drive than you expect also.
My fiance survived being rear-ended at 75mph by an Impala (idiot was texting and driving) in one of these, if she hadn't just re-entered the car and not been belted in yet, she would have probably been injury free. The car took the hit incredibly well.
OK - I'm done plugging the insight.
How are the bolsters on the drivers side seat bottom? Still good? In the pic the left bolster looks a little flat.

Sorry for the late responses. The drivers seat bottom bolsters are still good, the fabric is worn through though in one little spot on the seat back bolster though.

How's the headliner?
Headliner is in great shape. No sags or rips.
Edit: I also replaced the little plastic piece in the trunk hatch motor, so now the trunk opens with the handle and you don't have to turn the key to open it. It's a common issue on these cars.
I didn't even think about the wheel arches being cut out, I wondered why this one looked so awesome.

Back up for sale guys. $4500. Moving to a new neighborhood that's 4 miles from work so I don't really have to worry about saving gas anymore.

Price drop to $4000. Just put new front brakes on it and am about to replace the torn seat cover.

Do you still have the Insight and is it still for sale? I tried a PM but got a reject notification.
Sorry it's long sold. Thanks for asking though.
