As it states in the title, a local junkyard has a 92 miata (condition unkown). I'm going to look for some random trim parts and a fender this evening after work (29 March). Are there any parts I should specifically pull for resale? I seem to recall that either the camshaft position sensor or idle air control valve sell for good money, what else am I missing.

I'll happily pull some parts for board members if there is something specific you are looking for. Just shoot me a pm with your email or phone and we can touch base.

Convertible latches. Both parts, the ones that attach to the windshield header and that attach to the top itself. Also, interior switches are good although there aren't that many on the early years. If the seats are good or after market they sell well. Like a previous poster mentioned.......hardtop, that's golden. Lenses, tail lights etc. Frankly, almost anything if it's in good shape. There's a big market for early Miata parts now.

Trim between tail lights is popular, desirable, an pricey.

Trim between the lights, gauge cluster cover, radio "tombstone". Those are the parts that are always broken on a 1.6, so they're probably broken on this one. But if you can get a clean one they're worth a few bucks.

OEM hoods are aluminum -- not sure if there's a market for used ones. Trunk lids without racks are popular in some areas. 1.6 valve covers are held in place by nicer hardware than 1.8s if I recall correctly.

Seatbelt anchors that bolt to the floor are useful to NB guys who upgrade to race seats -- I think the NB belts anchor to the seat itself. Not positive, though.

Mirrors.

If it looks like a good part, someone will want it. I had a trashed Miata that to build a Locost from, and by the time I had it ready for scrap nothing was left but the shell. Everything seemed to have a value to someone . . .

Definitely a market for undamaged hoods, but a surprising number of people will want it to be concours quality. Still, it's a part that is usually damaged on junkyard cars so I'd grab a good one if I could find it.

You're right about the valve cover hardware. It's prettier. Just don't leave that valve cover loose and kill a $500 engine so you can get $5 worth of pretty bolts.

Obviously most parts on the car have value to someone, that's how junkyards stay in business

If you're talking about the blue one a Pull-A-Part in Louisville, don't get too excited. It was hit hard, and looked like it had led a very 'questionable' life before the accident.

Yup that's the one. I pulled the intake tube (mine was cracked), the ignitor and a few random bolts. Glad I wasn't in that car when it was wrecked.
