Yo, Andy...just get better enough to be able to answer the questions about what you built and why on earth you built it THAT way. That's more important. And get better as quick as you can so you can stand the trip. Otherwise, fly down and save the grief.

Ouch! That doesn't sound like any fun. I hope you get to feeling better quickly, buddy.
It sounds like you already have an excellent team around you for support and a solid plan in place. Get better and do not hesitate to call if you need anything.

Having seen it I think its pretty self explanatory.
Andy you know if there's anything me or any of the guys can do just holler, I shot you an email, we might be able to work something out to have one of my drivers ride along and assist with the towing duties if you think it would help.

Andy, another Misfit checking in here, I'm not too far from you (Berks county), and am trying to work it out with the rest of the team to free up the time to come help out.
For towing down, we could meet up with you and rotate some misfits through your truck to help spread the load and haul straight through.
Andy, You are always welcome to use some of my Driveway space when you get here.
Darn that's not good! Glad you are ok though.
There will be an army of people to help you in the parking lot if you need some last minute help, don't worry about that.
Get better!
Thanks for all the emails and well wishes. Hopefully the work is done and it is tuning work only. Stitches get removed Wednesday and we jump into the truck and head down. Looking forward to catching up with everyone. It's hard to believe another year has passed.
I'll see you there. And as always, if you need anything at all just let me know. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you!
Hey Andy, Hope that everything works out alright, leaving early Sunday and hopefully get to the Gateway early on Thursday. You have an extra pair of hands if you need them. See you there,
Kevin Sweeney
Wow, the things people will do to take a few pounds out of the car. I mean really, how much could even the stitches weigh? Why risk it opening up and messing up the inside of your car. Does this mean more banquet food for the rest of us? When I'm done working on Uranus I'll pitch in! See ya next week, be careful!
Nice job Andy, talk about hard core, ripping out a few ounces of body is very serious mate, see you in Gainesville
Fired up the 5.0 Miata for the "first" time tonight. We got it fired Tuesday but lost injector pulse. Turns out a missing ground was the culprit.
Little video for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcLbry7eNj4

I hope you are feeling better Andy. Count me in on helping out if needed. I expect to also be tuning in Florida, but I will have some tools and an extra set of hands as needed.

Yay! Challenge wouldn't be the same without you guys.

Hey parent dorks, you guys should get Tommy to build a challenge car. I'd like to see what someone his age can come up with. I can see it being good editorial content as well.

I like that idea!
But Tim's gotta keep Denny's hands off it!
I was driving the $2010 GTX back up to Oakland on Wednesday to pack up a few things before hitting the road. Let me just say, rush hour traffic is not the time you want to find out the hard way that you have a leak in your brake system.
Turns out, my mechanic is trying to kill me...the 323 brake hoses don't clip into the 626 struts (they don't make stock struts for the GTX anymore) and I forgot to ziptie them into place. The left (driver's side) one rubbed up against the tire and wouldn't you know, that friction thing will get you every time.
I'm okay, the car's okay, and with a little duct tape and zip ties, I made it back to Oakland. The problem with having such an odd car, though, is that nobody carries the brake hoses normally. After a few hours of calling different auto parts companies, Carquest came to the rescue and had a new hose to me yesterday.
Of course, this morning, I woke up to a new oil leak...a big one, it looks like - I'm a quart down since yesterday. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to be on the road tomorrow. Already called the family and said I loved them, but if I'm heading straight to the Challenge if I can get this back on the road at all.

Is that like last words?
Don't word it quite that way when you are telling a brake failure story.
Glad to hear all is well.
Glad to hear you're safe. Remember E-BRAKE! that is the exact situation they came up em for.

Wrong! E-brakes were invented to make front wheel drive rental cars more fun.

Gruesome torque steer combined with tiny little wheels was invented to make FWD cars more fun.
The e-brake is there for your Mom to hang on to when you are learning to drive!
I thought they were for doing donuts in snowy parking lots.
E-BRAKE the Swiss army knife of the automotive world.

If my mother gets the subtext of "I'd rather work on cars and race a complete piece of junk than hang out with the family..." then, yes, those very well may be my last words. ;)
I'm lucky it was stop and go traffic and I don't like to tailgate. I managed to pump the brakes and coast to a stop. It would have been far worse to find the brake failure at 80mph with someone cutting me off or some such...
