Would a couple Lancia badges and a Zagato emblem work?

The Star Wars thing is kinda funny cause we had already been planning on putting a big Imperial logo on the hood of the Sciricco.

I think Chevy is still in business, right? Although of course you're free to argue it before the judges, hence the sliding scale.

You guys need to remember that this is about magazine content, they want orphans not Mustangs and Camaros because they are more interesting in the weird GRM land.

As the owner of a Fox I can only agree that oddballs are more interesting to look at.

So you'll be converting the nose to a Capri nose now? :)

I vote that Shelby Dodges are "orphan cars" because Shelby left Dodge back in the early 90's and ended up back with Ford. Shelby Ford people don't even acknowledge Shelby Dodges as being "real" Shelby cars.

The orphan car rule is interesting, I will say that. I want to see some really weird and strange stuff show up this year!

Don't. That's been the plan the last 3 years.

I guess I am, Paul. Part of the appeal of the Challenge to me was it was run what 'ya brung for less than $20xx. Bring the fastest, prettiest, most clever car you can, and put it up against the other crazies who, like me, used every spare moment working on their junk risking their marriage and sanity. I finished third in 2011 behind two Incredible cars and teams. If this rule were in place then, I may have won because I had a Pontiac. That would've been a hollow victory for me and from the reader's perspective, I don't see how that's interesting. That event didn't leave me looking for an excuse or trying to find an exception. I didn't begrudge the Nelsons or Vorshlag for having superior fabrication skills or a killer machine shop. No. It sent me back to the drawing board to improve because for me, a reader of the magazine, I want to know how (insert whoever's name here) managed to be the best at the discipline. I don't want to read how someone showed up with some Russian POS, finished mid pack, got bonus points for showing up with said POS, and ended up on the podium. If you want to reward the quirky cars do like LeMons and do an index of effluence award. I realize that my rant will not change the decision and it's my choice whether or not to compete under the new rules. I also realize that if I do compete this year I will kick everyone's butt. (Trash talking. Another Challenge tradition)

Yep. You are missing the point.

The point is to stop worrying so darned much about the rules and winning, and start generating some doggoned content for the darned magazine.

The rule gives the staff a little bit of opportunity to sway the points randomly as they see fit, to encourage the kind of content they want, by a maximum of 3 points out of a total potential of 128. I don't think the win will ever be determined by this rule.

I think it's great, even though I will bring something that doesn't earn me any bonus points. I may therefore have to bring 2- sounds like the rule is already doing exactly what they want (generate content)!

I was joking yesterday that there should be a special class/award for flying in and buying a $2013 car unseen off of Craigslist or the likes and running it without any modifications (or at most tires). :P

I've wanted to do this and do a complete build in the Best Western Gateway Grand parking lot for years.

We definitely aren't doing that this year. I'm hoping to get my CSX down there if we can finish it in time, and maybe another car. But yeah, we've been talking about doing this for years. I think it would be really cool.
