I'm not experienced enough to give you a straight answer, other than I ran that site when it was very dry with 15x9s and BFG Rivals.

The site's ground in November:

Can't be much worse that what we ran on last weekend. I'd love to put my Sunday parade lap on YouTube but my laptop lacks the processing power to work with Movie Maker. Need to bleep out all the cursing.

I technically corded an all-season there...

The surface is hard and fast, but not to the level of the Nebraska site last year. We ran a set of grooved all seasons 4 times, with 3-4 co-drivers at Indianola without damage. We then hauled the car out to Nebraska and destroyed the tires in one event with just two drivers.

Good luck to everyone leaving this morning. After reading the camping rules posted to the Facebook group, it's already off to a wonderful start.

Just got here. Now I have to wait for my friend who booked the hotel room to show up.

Buddy of mine is driving his supercharged Miata up from FL. He's already replaced his clutch master and slave cylinder on the side of the road and now he has a massive misfire he is dealing with and is still 5 hours away. If you see a blue Miata on the side of the road with 4 tires strapped to the trunk that would be him.

SISU!

Just got out of the shower. Had to take a nap along the way since I was going cross-eyed after being up for 23 hours including a 9 hour work day. Went straight from my car to the hotel room to the shower to GRM

Now to see how these fancy schmancy limited-edition GRM decals are supposed to be mounted. I need to sticker up a certain black Subaru.

Did not know Sisu before. Thank you. The phrase is very apropos here. John of the blue Miata is very driven individual and I hope he gets the bugs worked out so he can get some good clean runs.

Jager supplies dangerously low.

Edit: Jager gone. Switching to emergency backup. Wayy to much drama/BS to deal with sober. Gotta love it when people insist that the rules mean what they think they mean rather than what they actually, you know, say.

Oh well, just another day in the office. At least we're getting the protests out of the way on Friday so we can get on with competiton bright and early on Saturday. Except during our course walk (done during an AWESOME sunset, btw) we noticed that some people took a bunch of the cones on the course and stacked them/moved them from their assigned positions. So there's gonna be people protesting the course tomorrow, probably.

So, question: You see kids moving cones on the course. What do you do? Difficulty: You can't just watch them and put everything back when they leave, because you're not the person who put the course together, AND you have fifty other duties that you need to attend to while it is still quasi-daylight. And you need to maybe eat and take a shower. (Take a shower is not a "maybe", it's a "DAAAAAMN dude you need to hose yourself off because you reek like an outhouse in Juarez")

(Seriously, we got to the hotel room and we were like "What reeks in here?" and then we realized - it was us. I tried to take all of the blame but I can't own all of that)

So it's 2014, but 4 hours shorter drive? And hopefully less roll-overs.

Rainign waaay too much for rollovers.

GTG. Had to run to hotel for emergency research. Will tell you about it in person.

Well, my dad had a pretty good time!

I'm definitely glad I went. It was my third, fourth, and fifth rallycross all in one weekend! Plus, another team and my group played parts swap: they got a soft top to stay legal (and win PR) and we got to play with rally tires!

Sad I missed it. So so so happy I missed the drama. Last year burned me out on that. Does anyone have results for MR? The live timing has MA results up for MR.

What causes the drama? Our local events are incredibly laid back. I'm sure the heightened competition at Nationals contributes but what is there to bicker about?

One of the Miatas from Colorado had issues adhering to stock and prepared class. During class inspection, they were told to dump their Konis (adjustables aren't allowed) and install a soft top (delete not allowed). They reinstalled non-adjustable KYBs and I gave them a soft top to bolt in, so they were legal and won both classes. However, the guy in 2nd in stock protested that they ran on "daisies" (which are 14x5.5) as opposed to the truly OEM wheels ("hollow 7-spokes" which are 14x6 and lighter).

In summary for stock: they ran heavier, narrower wheels which are most definitely not a competitive advantage but are not OEM width by half an inch and were otherwise legal during the competition.

In summary for prepared: they were legal during the competition.

Aside from that, I thought it was drama-free and didn't notice anything amiss or worth getting upset about. The courses were great. Grid was chaotic but managed. Timing was on the ball.

My drama solution would be to use autocross rules, but no one wants that apparently. Stock = street class rules within reason. Prepared = street touring rules within reason (yes, including suspension). Modified = the existing crazy. I think prepared is waaaaay too much like stock; most of the cars ran in both classes anyways!

The person who protested needs to find a class with almost zero entries to go run by themselves, against nobody else, to collect their all important plastic trophy.

Well, I think there were only four cars in stock rear. If he DQs one, he won't be getting much more contingency money.

I got 9th and my co-driver got 7th in MR! We both could have gotten around 6th (maybe) if we didn't spin, so I call that awesome for a naturally-aspirated full interior/exterior Miata!

Our friends in the Deathscort got 9th and 8th in MF. They were pretty happy too, especially since their car was...uh...free and aside from tires, the most money they've spent was on a windshield!

MR was won by the awesome Florida guy in his supercharged Miata.

I got bumped down to 5th in SA after sitting in 4th at the end of Saturday. I just didn't have enough power and awd experience to compete at the top.

Ended up in 2nd in PR. The first place car was better prepared for the muddy conditions we ran in on Saturday morning and I ended up 44 seconds down to him on three runs and not a real chance of making up that kind of time in the other 7 runs over the weekend. I can't find final results (should have 10 runs)

Glad to hear timing was on the ball.

If I wanted to get technical (internet arguing only) the sr/PR Miata may not have been legal with an nb soft top(I assume your top was nb) Iirc the nb top is about 5 lbs lighter than the na top.

I think the wheels were just the straw that broke the camels back with all the other issues with the sr car that were not disclosed on the class modification form.

I know at least one other non stock legal part they were running at least during PR runs and I don't think they swapped it out while they were swapping the tires.
