Post race DQ decisions like this spoil ACO rules racing. If it passes tech before the race it should be good to the end. BOP is neccessary, I get that, but changing it after qualification like Aston got hit is wrong, and so is zero tolerance on a system that does use plastic spacer balls inside the fuel cell.

A needed subject change in subject..
I'm very curious to know where the quick connects are at for the caliper mounting. The dry break hose is a known quantity, but the caliper mounts is obviously the magic sauce here..

Keating Loses GTE-AM win
Well berkeley ....
And this is why people don't give a Berk anymore. Fastest car won after being beaten to hell with rules changes at the track and now they have their victory taken away over some crazy ass minimum pit stop time.
Berk it, I'm done. The WEC is dead to me.

I'd be surprised if the fuel tank volume is tested in the tech inspection. Whereas evidence of it can be seen during the race, hense the protest.
And I don't think Aston's problem was the BOP- they were still slightly quicker than the P cars post pitting. But on the second stint, they slowed quite a bit due to rear tire wear. At least that's how I saw Tom Christiensens's data about that issue.

That sucks, but it wouldn’t have happen if they hadn’t broken the rules.

After reading that I now have someone to really cheer for. I do hope they go back and prove it wasn't a fluke. Hopefully they don't return in a Ford because it would hurt my soul to root for a Ford victory but if I have to I'll grit my teeth and do it because his response to the situation was spot on.
Way to man up and own it.

Looks like everyone is more interested in complaining about something they can't change than cool race car technology. *le sigh*

The RLM guys were saying Niki Thim said that because of tire wear they were having to double stint tires the whole time.
Yeah, the situation with the Ford's is a heart-breaker. I spent some time in the Keating pits--they're definitely from our world and are excellent hosts. Ben offered up his seat to me in mission control and then gave me headphones so I could listen in. Bill Riley gave me a quick tutorial on what was going on as they're able to monitor so much info. I was there for at least an hour and got to experience a full-course caution, (light) rain and a pit stop. (Also, Bill showed me photos of his newest ChampCar.)
And some pics from Keating Racing mission control:
^That's pretty awesome! What a cool experience.

It’s always the competitors responsibility to be legal. All post race tech in all forms is more in depth than pre race tech. Or maybe you prefer stuff like in nascar in previous years where example Richard petty kept his win despite being caught with an engine nearly 30 cubic over the limit and left side tires on the right side. Interesting enough this Sunday in the truck series nascar outright disqualified a winner for failing post race tech for the first time in a very long time.

That had to be a really memorable experience. Another reason to root for them next year to win it again and keep it this time.

That's how nearly all forms of road racing work. Many have the addition of allowing competitors to challenge another competitor's legality, of course this means they'll get challenged as well. The result is teardown of the respective cars and whether or not they are legal, the owners then have to put them back together. Its messy and annoying, but it happens from Solo on up. There were a number of Spec Miata racers that were tossed a few years ago because of a head modification that a builder made and they all ran his engines.

Do you have any spoilers for his newest champcar? Regardless that is awesome you got to hang with them in the pits.

Yes I do! Not sure if they're for public consumption, though, but here's a hint: C3.
Considering our discussing rules, Le Mans, why we race in this thread; I couldn't help but think about that while watching this today:
I think it was mentioned somewhere that GTE should be the top level? I wonder if the above is historical precedence thereof. Although, it also makes me think that the ACO should figure out a way to encourage production based all-electric cars to run in GTE, to go back to the roots and "prove out the technology". But, I'm also funny in the head like that
