Does anybody know if the 318Ti uses the same doors or, even better, the same windows as every other E36 coupe?
I'm looking at a car with a broken window.

I believe so - and if you can confirm, I have door glass from an E36 2dr in my basement. I'll be traveling to Hartford at some point in the next 2-3 weeks for work.
I'm liking the sound of this. I hope to take a look at the car this morning and I'll let you know. Thanks.

When you are sure or if you need me to measure the glass I have just hit the contact member thing and drop me an email.
You can use realoem.com to figure out parts interchange - find the part number for a 318ti window, and then look up what other cars it fits.
Thanks for the info. I just talked to the seller. It's covered in plastic in the photo but he says the glass is fine. It needs a regulator.

Correct. 318ti doors are unique to the car. They MIGHT interchange glass, but I doubt it. Sounds like you don't need to worry anymore, though!

I am about 90% sure they don't interchange glass......

regulators/window channels and parts are interchangeable even though the glass is different.
I drove nearly two hours each way to see this car and it turned out to be kind of a turd. Not for me.

I know that feel, bro.
It had 154,000 miles on it. At least the lower half had been painted all around (lots of orange peel). The rear wheel arches felt like they were thick with filler and the passenger side was still showing some rust. It had been tapped lightly from the rear, but hard enough to buckle both of the rear quarters and dent the hatch. The headliner was falling (no surprise). The driver's door panel was off and maybe missing in an effort to repair the failed window regulator. All of the interior panels in the hatch area were loose and there were wires hanging where stereo equipment was probably removed. The spare tire well was full of acorns. The engine, which had clearly been run without an oil cap for at least a little while, sounded like crap. And the battery was dead.
But other than that it was a nice car.
Except for the rust/wreck/filler you just described my new project. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
