Thanks guys. I think I agree with the pull and assess plan. Any more testing I should do before yanking the drivetrain from the 1500? Anything that wouldn't be visually obvious or not able to be bench tested? It still has reverse, so it sounds like the sun shell gear hasn't stripped. Once it's out, it'll be a while before it's in a driveable state.

Why spend money if 1&2 work? Isn’t most auto cross done in 1&2?
Best way to find a decent trans at a junkyard is from a wreck that totaled it but didn’t damage the frame around the engine/transmission.
