I don't think there were any turbos from the wedge era. I'm assuming we're talking about the same era- '82 to '85. I think those were all N/A 5MGE. The turbos, I believe, started with the rounder '86 Supra with the 7MGTE.

I've had one of these as well as a Scirocco. To me, the Scirocco was a vastly superior driver's car. They were both unreliable pieces of crap though.

I'm with you on that. It's the same up here in Montreal. I haven't seen any in ages either, and they used to be everywhere. The NXs are gone too, Turbo or not.

I think 9000 Turbos are almost free.

For more weirdness, if you can find one, a Pontiac Sunbird Turbo. A friend of mine had one and it was surprisingly fun.

Up here, we got a few Renault Fuego Turbos.

Forgot about that wedge. I was talking about the '86+ cars. I'm not a (s)expert on foreign cars of that vintage.

The fix is that simple? What torque spec did they leave with? What should it have been?

I used to have a fleet of them of every color 87/88 except the special-edition Bright Red. I'd still drop a 5.0 in one if I ever got back into it though. I developed an irrational hatred of that stupid motor, though they can be extremely tough.

They left with the n/a torque specs. Which you know... doesn't really make sense when talking about a boosted car.

I don't remember what it should have been. I think it was amost 70lbs? They left with 40 or less?

There's actually a service bulletin out there that the internet likes to ignore.

Ford Probe had a turbo in the first generation, and that is all I know about them.

Subaru XT-6 is the perfect candidate if you just want to have some fun and can find one.

Isuzu Impulse Turbo was my object of lust back then, and they are still cool.

If you want to learn all about turbocharging a car tat wasn't originally equipped, I think that the Saturn SC2 is plentiful, cheap, can be made to handle, and will hold a ton of boost. IIRC.
