Hey guys I was just told there is a '93 9C1 Caprice in my local yard with its rear end. I'm thinking of yanking the rear for the Cutty, anyone know the width of this rear? I'm finding conflicting info on the net so I figured you guys would be most reliable.
Any reasons not to put the rear in my Cutlass?

my 94 9C1 rear is 68" wide edge of rim to edge of rim. stock wheels. this car has a LT1 and posi.
hope that helps
Hmmm yeah I'm thinking its just going to be flat out to wide. Also it seems from another source some of the mounts are further apart etc and would require some fabrication.
Any other parts I should look for off this? I'm thinking maybe the oil cooler and the like might be useful. I wish I had use for them but there are still the rear cage bars in the windows and the like.
Did that year have a PS cooler? Could help in competition situations.
Silicone hoses? (Would a 93 have an LT1, and, if so, would hoses interchange?)
93 would have been first year of the LT1 I think, which more than likely why the engine is pulled, the yard pulls some of the better engines before the cars even hit the yard.
I will check on the additional coolers.
93 is last year for tbi
the rear will most defintely be too wide unless you want to run a front wheel drive type offset in the rear - or make some badass flares
I believe those rear end have a "gov-lok" posi. If it isn't dead, it will be. They suck eggs. Good thing it's an 8.5 corporate rear. Everyone makes parts.
Its for sure starting to sound like I should pass and just keep looking for another rear.
Wish I could find a modified Ford 9 inch for a reasonable price but most of the guys out here sold off all their old track spares.
I am planning on some flares but nothing to extreme to cover the difference in width looks like about 5 or 6 inches
