That stuff allows wider wheels? Enlighten me.
The Australian Sedans are amazing. Must find more pics...
GTO, very tempting.
Catera: I LOVE this forum. That actually sounds very cool.
The odyssey continues...

Failing one of these , a GTO would definitely suit.

Here's a much more mild set of the same wheels on an Aussie RX7.
It would take some pretty severe guard bashing, or possibly boxed flares, to make your set fit, though.
Rear wheel drive, Hemi powered, tube frame, IMSA style, K-car
I don't think they'd fit inside the fenders of any stock BMW, although an e24 6 series would probably be the closest. Remember that a 5x120 pattern is close to a 5x4.75" pattern, but it's not the same...
There's probably someone else out there building a vintage BMW racecar who would be happy to give you a lot of money for them - I'd try selling them and then using the cash for something you can use.

Won't allow any wider wheels than what your fenders can handle.. but opens up the bolt pattern from 4x100 to 5x120 and allows a wider selection of rims, brakes, and suspension upgrades
Wow, Luke, thanks for the visual. 1st gen RX-7 could get interesting with some IMSA style flares.
I have feelers on 3 BMW boards and I'm working on a few more, but what forums do vintage BMW racecar owners/builders frequent? I wouldn't mind selling as there have actually been a plethora of amazing rims floating around these days.
What's the best solution to go 5x120 up front? I think if I do an E30 I'll do professional custom flares like on Alex Schipkov's DSP car.
There's a couple guys on the mye28 BMW board who deal with vintage/high end restorations, I'll post a link to this discussion over there.
and my fav
for more on that car http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/momis-x19/2581/page1/
best bet to go 5x120 up front on an E30 is the full struts from the E36. They bolt right in.
Might also want to consider a z3 steering rack.. MUCH faster ratio
Luke, I just adore the A9X thanks for the memories
Want to sell them contact me, I have the perfect car for them
That X1/9 is ridiculously awesome, if a bit out of my price range.
Thanks for the info about the E36 struts and Z3 rack. Almost makes it sound easy :)
I was about to give up all hope on a GTO when I found this. Perhaps a test-fit is in order...
I am not entirely sure of the parts you might need.. but I know the lower control arms are the same.
Unlike the e30 strut, the E36 has seperate hubs that bolt on.
What would the lug spacing be on these?

One more picture. B45's on an Abarth Prototipo replica
exxies are cheap, and you can basically pick from alot of FWD setups to swap it. bodywork is gonna be a part of whichever project to get the flares.
personally, cobalt SS drivetrains are nice, and i wonder if a SRT-4 drivetrain would fit (you can cut out the back trunk area for more room)
If you're thinking 1st Gen Rx-7, remember that Mazda still sells the factory IMSA GTU and GTO bodykits/flares direct through Mazdaspeed. Sawzall the 1/4's off and add new 1/4's, doors, fenders, fascias, and aprons. Just a thought.
I still like Catera on 04 GTO brakes with an LS1 swap...

I am more thinking Mitso evo engine with only two wheel drive.

I already have a set a flares for my 1st gen, but will check out that kit, have you got a link
You have to be in the Mazdaspeed support program to buy them, but it's easy. All you have to do is send Mazdaspeed an application and then 2 race results for the year. Autocrossing even suffices. GRM had an article on it.
They are two different kits BTW. The GTU kit is just fenders/quarters and fascias and uses stock doors. The GTO kit is so big they send you fiberglass doors too. These are the actual body pieces from the same molds that Mazda ran back in the day.

Nix the GTO idea, as you're holding 15" wheels. Won't clear brakes designed to go under positive offset 18"ers. Keep to the BMW idea, or put early Camaro brakes under a flared to hell Opel Manta.. ;)
All 04-06 GTO's came with 17's standard. 04's have smaller brakes but all of them can fit 15's on the rear and skinny 15" fronts for drag racing. You'd be surprised but I'm pretty sure these will fit over 04 GTO brakes in the front too.

AFAIK, even '05-'06 drag racers run 15s at the track.
