The Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club [A.M.E.C.] will be hosting their second "Economy Run" event of this year coming up on Sunday, October 5th. This is a 118.3 mile scenic trip through the southern Adirondack mountains in beautiful upstate NY. Just as in the Mobil Economy runs in the 50's and 60's, A.M.E.C.'s event will test your "economic" driving abilites. Cars will be weighed on electronic scales and filled with fuel [before and after the event under the watchful eye of an AMEC official).
Awards include:
Best overall mpg for gas cars
Best overall mpg for diesel and hybrid cars
Best ton-mile per gallon [TMPG]
Best carbureted mpg
Best miles per dollar. [Based on the actual cost to travel the 118.3 miles].
Full details can be found HERE.
I will be running my '77 Datsun B210 and shooting for 60 mpg. With the beautiful fall foliage in the Adirondack mountains it will be a day to remember!
Cheers, Mike
