I was thinking backup turbos for the Celica and/or MX6, possibly sacrificing one in the name of antilag/flatshift experimentation. (Also see: Shenanigans)

Still planning an appearance at the Challenge? The two of those mounted smartly to a sizeable trophy base would make a hell of a judge's bribe.

I have a couple of Borg Warner S400's about that size I picked up for $150 . Unfortunately they are supposed to be very laggy on even a 5.3 and I only have the 4.8 Over 1000hp capable each though.

Dear load how much support would the manifold have to have to hold one of those things in place. It would have to be seriously triangulated to the block.

Eh wouldn't be that bad. The mx6 guys run hx40s with pretty minimal bracing. Manifold stud size plays a big part in it.

That's probably closer to what i've got lined up for the celica. Big borg Warner t4.

You going to use a quick spool valve?

Those are small.

This is a real turbo: BTW, that is one of my friends cars. He last ran a 7.9 with a SMALLER turbo on that 347.

Nah, it's not that oversized, it's not an s400, just a very large t4 s200.

Don't need quick spool, it's a fwd car, would prefer some lag. Gonna spin a 2.2 stroker to 9500rpms.

We're thinking it should hit 400whp @ 18-20psi, and support over 50psi.

I'm just wondering how fun/deadly my truck would be with boost.

Yes. To both.

Our HY35w has 4" inlet, 3" exhaust, the compressor section is almost as large as what you've got there, but the turbine is about 1/2 as big, seriously. Those are monsters. My buddies and I were joking around about compounding our boost, though that would mean our HY would serve as the 'quick spool' turbo...

I was going to leave it at that until I came across this site: http://www.atsdiesel.com/ats2/templates/template_06.asp?p=2029422272&c=36

I'd need a bigger engine than the 2.3L to feed them though...

Don't need a bigger engine. Quick spool valve on the "small" one. Just make sure the engine is strong enough.

There's a supra being built right now that's using a compound setup. The small turbo likely isn't a ton smaller than the one's i've got.

Do it!

People HAVE gotten over 700whp out of stock s2000 motors...

I know. Spending a few hours with that... oh my. I need one and it needs a huge berkeleying turbo.

E36 M3ty mechanics at the dealer seem like as good a reason to void a warranty as there could ever be.

Some sort of borg warners? What are the specs on each and how much? I'm local :)

turboswede wrote: Well, I've got an HX35. Its pretty damned massive (for car use) probably not that large when taken in context with the diesel pump motor it came off of. It was fun having it on the bench next to a bunch of other parts when my 924 turbo buddy came over. His reaction was pretty hilarious....

lul, one of the local turbo dodge guys was in the garage when I was rebuild my H1C (same wheels as the HX35) and I think he might have pooped himself when he saw the 83mm compressor wheel. Being the stock garrett has more like a 45mm wheel on it.

In reply to moparman76_69:

Big ihi distributed by warner as far as I can tell. Rhb8 frame, vj30 in serial number, don't know specs yet, i may have to measure it all myself and do the math for a/r and all that. I believe it's a 1.32a/r but that doesn't mean much without the other numbers.

If you know this stuff better than I I can bring one by and you can check it out if you want. Message me through here or ICS.
