Great liveries, but I don't want quite that much attention for a street driver.

I am doing Toyota "voodoo blue" on my Mg Midget. I feel like smaller cars need a very extroverted color. Also love Porsche viper green, might look really nice. Or-or- if you want a challenge, go a nice BRG with an offset plaid stripe. Plaid. Yes.

maybe a nice light blue with this stripe over it. Probably could get it printed in a wrap? I may now do this with the midget.

That Toyota blue is awesome. It would blow out any surface details (if they existed) but it would be fantastic on an NA and would work pretty well on an NB.

In fact, it's probably pretty close to the wrap we used here.

Mazda's own "Laser Blue" (not to be confused with the Lotus Laser Blue we used on Elvis) is a good blue.

If by 'blow out surface 'details', you mean 'hide' all the crap imperfections in my amateur paint job, god do I hope so. One more week and she will be blue.

That is beyond cool. The name alone is awesome but purple on a Challenger looks great. Id powdercoat/paint the wheels bronze too for that added pop.

Is this a Hellcat only color hence the name?

Keith, I haven't read through this entire thread so forgive me if I missed it.  What was the name of the blue that was offered by Mazda on the NA?  IIRC, was it Mariner Blue?  My first NA was that color.  I just got another NA, and this one is classic red and it's gorgeous so I would have no objection to having it repainted the same color.

I think I've narrowed it to 3:

The original red:

Lotus Magnetic Blue:

Lotus Chrome Orange

The Miata versions Sunkist Orange and Stormy Blue Mica are also contenders.

Sunkist was actually the name given to one of the six "color cars" in 1990 by an early owner. It wasn't a production color, and Mazda never used the name officially. It looks different in different photos, probaby just due to the way that cameras struggle with orange/red sometimes, as it's not metallic from what I recall.

Lotus Chrome Orange is an expensive three-stage. I used it on my Locost and while it looks fantastic, definitely price it out before you commit.

There were so many blues near the end of the NA run that we started calling them YAB - Yet Another Blue. But if you mean the bright blue used on the 1990-93 cars, that's Mariner Blue aka Smurf Blue aka California License Plate Blue. It's a very good color and I have one in my driveway.

In addition to the color, what are your Miata plans? Are you putting the go-fast parts from the red car into the new tub?

Have we discussed tops yet and how the color comes into play?

(Sorta related, somewhere online I just saw a white Datsun roadster with a red top, and it just looked awesome.)
