I am looking at one of these locally(alot freaking rougher), and it is marked as a 150 on the sides, but it is the same as this one pictured. I am still waiting to hear from the owner, and since here is probably the best way to find out. Name the year of it, and so on. It has a 2 speed rear, hydraulic lift flatbed, manual, the usual crusty IH floors, and it'll need a door glass and windshield. IDK what engine is in it yet, other than its gas. I see potential.
65 ish? The grille is what dates them usually.
I had a 61 151 ci, 3 on the floor IH truck as a daily for a while. Awesome trucks.

OK, I've established the fact it is a 1500, but unsure on c or d series. Still not sure on the engine/trans option though.
Thanks crankwalk. If the price is right, I'll jump on it.....if not, or if I pass.....I'll at least post it here.
That should be a C series I believe. Probably has a V8 front the looks of that rear.
I had a Slant 4 which was good for hauling pine straw and thats about it.

I never got the hood opened on it, but it did have a rather large oil pan.
On IH trucks up through about 67, they didn't specifically give them a model year. You have to use the VIN to decode when it was made, or use the title to find out when it was first titled.
I had the same trouble with my Scout 800. The only way I could tell that it was a 65 was because of some visual clues that pegged it as a 1964, but the stamp says its an 800 and 65 was the first year for the 800s.
IH numbered their vehicles the same way they numbered their tractors... no specific year, just a serial number.

Alright, finally spoke with the seller today, it seems it is actually a '63 and inline 6, 4sp with 2sp rear end. After talking a bit, I found out he has put roughly 1k miles on it in the last year or so. I wonder if it is the IH i6 or the amc i6.....if amc, I could fuel inject it and possibly boost economy relatively easy. He is asking right at, if not $100 over scrap value.....
You cant lose on that. Parts would be worth twice scrap
Its an IH 6. AMC sixes didn't show up until 73??? (that's a ballpark)
I had a 78 IH scout 2 with the IH V8 but I'm a bit sketchy on the I6s
Binderbulletin.com is THE place for IH info.

Scratch that, if the binder people are right, all c1500's are 266 IH v8's. Even the owner admitted he hasn't had the hood open in well over a year. Either way, I still want it......even if I have to push challenge entry back yet another year.
I just can't help myself, you guys are like an AA support group meeting at a bar.

Aussie, can you check out how much a windshield and drivers window will run? Everything else appears to be there, but those are probably going to be the hardest thing to find.
My brother has a 1950 IH pickup, and he was able to get a windshield easily from a local auto glass shop - I'd think there should be no issues getting one for a 1960s IH truck. The side glass is flat so they should be able to cut a new piece if necessary.

That would work as well......was it an automotive glass place for the windshield?
Same body style as my Grandfathers 1300C that my uncle just sent off to the scrap yard this last fall.

I wish I had been able to buy that one, but lacked $$$$ at the time. This one is actually a c1500, I wish the flatbed were about 4ft longer so I could just use it alone to haul the bimmer around.
Oddly enough, I called around 6 different auto glass places, and finally one could get it.....they said in the computer it was for a B/C series truck(whatever that means), and it was reasonable IMHO($318 installed)
