So, I found out today that a friend is building a Cobra replica. I can contribute little to his efforts mechanically, but apparently there's some debate as to the scheme it should wear when finished. This is my favorite that I've found so far:

By "blue with white stripes" are we talking about this combo?

Yes!

I was going to go with black on black with no side pipe. But then I saw this and I've changed my answer. This is what, some flavor of 289 FIA Cobra? Maybe the later 427 body and with a different front bumper setup, but the general aspects of this are really doing it for me.
In reply to pres589 (djronnebaum) :
It was on Shelby's page for the 289 continuation cars. Body is the later version of the 289 FIA cars I believe.
EDIT: I will say I prefer the look of the 289 cars, If I ever had build my own new Cobra kit money I'd probably go with the Factory 5 289 USRRC. My Cobra has to have the bumps in the decklid for the suitcase too.
I built my Cobra tribute using C5 Vette suspension and drivetrain. I painted it Corvette Atomic Orange.
My personal favorite color is Candy Red over a bronze base with silver stripe. I painted one of my first builds that color.
