Best "Flogged" MPG?

I get 32 in my saab if I'm out of boost... in boost its high teens low 20's. My 97 triumph speed triple (first year of fuel injection) gets 33 no matter how I ride it kinda sad

My Justy gets 34.2 back and forth to work, which means throttle in the floor, it is a fun little car.

I get 10 mpg in my Miata during a Spec Miata race. I think that counts as flogging.

I get ~17 on track ( TT) in the CRX … mid 30's on the highway

Last time I checked mileage during an autocross on my Mustang was in 08 or so. It got around 11 while on track. Not long after I checked the wife's R53 during an autocross. It was getting around 9.

We raced a stock 342k mile Prius with original batteries and everything at Lemons Sonoma 2 weeks ago. We reset the trip computer before the race and ended up with a 16.8 mpg average for the two days of racing, the car was full throttle for 80-90% of the way around the track.

Boosted K20 CRX gets about 2-4 MPG autocrossing :D

I once did 2 dual driven autocrosses, a trip to the dragstip(and a 45min there with a million stop signs and lights), and a bunch of <2 mi around campus cold start driving on a tank in my 1990 civic. 24 MPG

2nd gen I'm guessing? How did it do otherwise?

A girl I dated in HS had a Geo Metro with the 3-cylinder. She and I both flogged the snot out of it. Of course, every stoplight required maximum effort to not tick people off. She frequently got 40+ commuting over the mountain, and we drove it from PA to NC once at 85-90 mph (which was WOT top speed) and both tanks down and back we got 50 mpg.

First tank in the coupe returned 24mpg, im thinking its gonna be a little worse this time around
my preoccupation right now is goosing it and watching the fuel consumption gauge go from 40 to 4. Lmao

I have found my 01 Insight gets 39mpg on an all in-town tank (everything until 45mph is WOT for me), and a steady 90-95 mph is also 39mpg. That's the lowest ive ever gotten from it. I have an 00 Insight now that seems to be getting low 30s while flooring it all the time, but that's because it doesn't work right.

Both of the E-21s got 30 mpg no matter what, beaten mercilessly or hypermiled 30 mpg's is what you got.

I'm happy if the WRX can break 21 anytime. Road trips, sure, it'll do 24. But generally I'm at 19 +-1.

There's a team in the midwest racing a 3-cylinder Metro in LeMons. I think the team is Lemon-Aid Racing. Word is they get about 22 mpg on track.

And here I thought I was gonna be the only cheater at this. My '00 Insight gets flogged to redlined pretty much every stoplight, worst I've seen is 55MPG.

My electric car does even better than my first gen Insight did.

I've heard of VAG TDIs getting 55+... but that could be the same delusion that makes people buy VAG TDIs.

I would personally rather get 8mpgs than drive a TDI... and I LOVE diesels.

My 1976 Beetle got 17 flogged. It got 17 granpa'd. Guess how I drove it after figuring that out?

My 1986 Civic Si got 33 around town and 44 at 65. Except for that one downhill-tailwind run north from Flagstaff I got 64. ;-)

That's with porting, compression and performance cam. I built the head on that car.

I'm really surprised it's not better than that.

Late to Palms springs for a wedding. Drove my '81 Toyota Starlet floored all the way from LA: 38 mpg.

Same car to San Francisco. Bucking headwinds all the way. The wind is so bad, I'm doing 80+ mph in 3rd gear (don't scoff. A Starlet could reach top speed [95 mph or so] in any of the top three gears): 38 mpg. 1300cc, 1,700 lbs and a 2.93:1 rear end will do it. The car would do 44 mpg unflogged but its natural habitat was flogged.

My Kia Soul (2.0/6 speed) will do upper 20s mpg in stop and go traffic with many "spirited" starts and upper 30s on the freeway. I had a CRX in college that would get upper 40s on the highway and occasionally cracked into the lower 50s with ideal conditions. Of course it only weighed 1800 lbs.

curtis73 , why the TDI hate ? I know its a VW, but really, I got mine used years ago, and besides tb , oil, one alternator and tires I have not done anything to it.

07 Fit would get low 30's with me flogging it and reaching redline quite often. low to mid 30's when not flogging it. 92 Civic would get mid 30's no matter flogging it or driving it like a sane person. currently, my 10 Mazda 5 will get mid to upper 20s whether i'm flogging it or driving normal. It got 31.5 mpg last tank (scratching my head on that one).

If you averaged 60mph on track you would get ONE mpg!

My Golf ('89, 100hp 8v version) could not get less than 35mpg no matter what I tried. My normal mode of driving is to bolt the accelerator to the floor and upshift as necessary. Often cruised at 85-90mph. Dragged the brakes in the winter because it kept the back end stable over 65mph when driving over rutted dense snow. (The smoking brakes when I got to my destination were just a bonus)

The kicker is that the PO normally got 35mpg highway, and I was seeing ~42mpg highway. The difference was that I exclusively fed it 92-93 octane and he didn't. Gotta love knock sensors and high compression engines.
