Earlier this week I changed the rotors and pads on my st185 celica. While bedding in the brakes I noticed screeching/rubbing sounds coming from the passenger rear brakes. You can also tell from the rotor color that the brakes heated up a bit. This side is the only one giving me problems. The other 3 sides bedded in properly. What could cause this? I'm leaning towards the caliper guide pin, but I am not sure.

Stuck caliper, brake hose that's acting as a one-way valve or a pad that's jammed in the caliper.

I had a similar problem twice. Once was stuck guide pins.. the other was wrong pads. Right box, but wrong pads

Hmm. How could I tell if the caliper is stuck or that my brake line is not working correctly?

The driver side rear bedded properly so I think I can rule out having the incorrect pads.

guide pin slide force check: remove wheel, remove caliper, remove rotor, put caliper back on. use hand to slide caliper inboard and outboard on guide pins. how much force does it take?

piston retraction check: remove wheel, have a helper push brake pedal and release. using shop light, piece of paper, thin feeler gauge, etc, see if there's clearance between inboard pad and rotor after release.

Well the problem ended up being the slide pin. A new pin with some grease solved the problem.

Now I have another issue, the car makes screeching noises whenever turning right. More so at higher speed. I'm guessing the dust shield might be hitting the rotor?

So I took off the from wheels to check the dust guards and it does not look as if they bent or rubbing.

The car is still making a screeching noise ONLY when turning right, more so at speed.

Any ideas?

Driver's side wheel bearing?

I thought bad wheel bearings would make a swishing type of noise? This is a full on screech.

It could be that the wheel bearing isn't bad enough to be heard while driving yet, but it is bad enough to let your brake rotor rub the dust shield or caliper bracket.
