Buying new daily - seeking opinions!

Just find the best 6MT G37 you can for $25k and enjoy 80% of the BMW's performance and 250% of the Subaru's reliability.

Just because you can spend 25k, doesn't mean you should.

I just bought a NEW 2018 Mazda 3 hatch, 6MT, and couldn't be happier.  There's an all new 2019 coming, so the 2018's are on fire sale now.  How does $16k (before tax/title) sound for a nifty little hatch with a full warranty and no one else's beer farts in the seats, ever?

What the hell is the deal with used SS prices? They seem all over the map.  A 2015 with 50k miles can be anywhere from $24-40k.  

They seem like cool cars though.  What's the story with the automatics in these, are they any good? I had a BMW with a GM 6-speed and it was a pretty jerky transmission with funny throttle tip-in, though I doubt this has the 6l45 my BMW had.

I really wanted to go back to RWD (or try AWD) but those are good looking cars for that cheap...

I've looked into these and the leftover Q40 (sadly I believe these are AT only).  The Q40 is usually a better value due to the carryover nature of the model...

Around here they are $30k and up. The MTs are much more expensive. As for the AT ones, I'd rather just get a 2015+ Charger SRT 392 for $30 grand because they sold more than a few thousand of them, but I'm not a collector or an Australian fetishist. Most of the ones I have seen on the road here have been re-Holden-badged. Also, versus the Charger, the SS chassis may be better, but the 2015+ Chargers have a ZF 8-speed in them which I guarantee is miles better than whatever flavor of GM6LXX-E is in the SS. Similar power:weight, nice interiors in both, etc.

I love the SS, but the fact that it's an Aussie orphan means maintenance is going to be somewhere between annoying and a nightmare going forward.  

To the OP:  I have always driven RWD, and had my doubts about anything FWD, but man, the chassis on this thing is really sweet.  Most of the time I forget it's a front dragger.  I'm averaging over 37 mpg on my commute too.  Granted, gas is 2 bucks a gallon, but it's still nice to not have any pain at the pump, and only fill up once a week.

I'll give them a whirl. With the additional feedback you guys provided on the BMW I've managed to get my wife to agree the BMW probably isn't the best financial decision.  She's still pulling strongly for 15+ Mustang GTs (or even Ecoboost models)... Can't say I blame her.

After Harvey I’m shy about buying any used car in the Houston area.

I would go look at a CPO VW GTI.  More grown up than the WRX, great interior, and the new ones seem to be holding up well.  I cross shopped it with a WRX.

Or, if you want AWD- 2013 and up Audi S4, supercharged V6, AWD, can be had in a manual, again a super nice interior.  I leased one after driving it, quite a fun car.
