Working on my car over the weekend for what was supposed to be its first track day today, and I broke a bleeder screw off one of the calipers. Can't get the bleeder screw out, so new caliper is on the way. I think it needs to sit there for a few days and think about what it did, and all the fun it ruined.
Please tell me I'm not the only one that does this.
I keep extra bleeders on hand. And lucky for me my aftermarket calipers use a small bleeder in a 1/8 npt fitting so if it breaks you can still swap the npt fitting and bleeder out.
But Yes. My first big brake changes ended up with a day and a half of it being impossible to bleed the air out of the system and at the time I was completely stumped. I ignored the car for over a month before going back and finally spending 30 min bench bleeding the master before the air finally was all out.

You're not the only one that does this, or at least stuff that follows the same story arc.

Sounds about right.
I left the (now) rallycross Neon in timeout for about 5 years, I think.
Der Scheißwagen sat in timeout for at least 3 years before being actively worked on.
I might have taken that to a bit of an extreme. Sort of the Stalin side of strict when it comes to discipline.
That's active "you're being punished" neglect. Not "I want to work on that but don't have time" neglect. I've got plenty of that, too.

Active neglect is an excellent term for it.
I had a YJ Wrangler piss me off so bad I walked away for 3 years. Ended up selling it as a rolling project. I may still be bitter and it sold over 3 years ago.
