Been signed up and registered. At first we sourced a forester that was setting lifeless behind a buddies. Got it up and going then found this civic which had taken a deer straight to windshield. Sold the forester and made a few bucks to cover the cost of the civic and part of the trip. My buddy Rob and I have known Luke through the wmhm and other Honda dealings throughout the past 10+ yrs. it just seems more fitting we do the challenge in a Honda.
It wouldn't be right to not take a little victory lap after chopping a top!

I am waiting on an anouncement for the promotional exam date at work. Rumor has it that it is around that time frame. Other then that possibly throwing a wrench into my plans I am down.
I have a buddy committed to flying in from the west coast to co drive and I bought a car for it...

The idea just found it's way over to the 24 hours of Lemons guys so I hope to pick up a few teams over there.
I'm organizing as well. We want to lock in a few more commits before we make it official.
We had a Caprice wagon we were going to use, but the buddy who owned it had a solid offer on it and sold it. Trying to figure out plan b now. So many options.

I should be getting registered shortly. They just anounced the promotional exam date and it's in the middle of april. Should have the clutch changed in the car this week.

further question:
how many negative points would we get for gutting all windows/windshield, cutting out the roof panel, but leaving the pillars and minimal roof "halo"? We wouldn't have time to add a roll bar at this point and I like roll-over protection..
we'd either figure out how to get the dodge stealth ES I'm about to junk in NH there, or fly'n'chop something in Chitown, scrapping whatever in Miami.
bonus points for adding forced induction?

Some thoughts:
2000 and newer Buick Lesabre have seatbelts integrated into the seat so even when the b-pillar is gone you still have oem seatbelt.
Some cars are more natural to a roll bar style.
Imagine a 3rd Gen Camaro t-top. Cut a-pillar, leave b-pillar then remove hatch.
What is left is pretty much a roll bar and the seatbelts are still mounted to b-pillar.

The latter could potentially work well for the stealth, actually. Pretty strong B/C pillar setup w/ the rear hatch (hatch removed of course). I'd consider that a minimum from a safety perspective.
RE: gm seat mounted belts, if top were completely chopped, I'm not sure I'd WANT a shoulder belt.
