I live in Bradenton, FL. My Dad took me to Desoto Speedway for many years as a kid to watch the local roundy-rounds. A few years ago, I decided to buy an already built Neon mini-stock to give it a try myself. The same weekend I was set to go race, the track closed its doors. Its been sitting abandoned ever since. Theres been chatter about new buyers and the track's deteriorated condition but theres been no action. ...until today when it was announced that Cleetus McFarland (of youtube fame) bought the place. I'm super excited to see what kind of shenanigans come to happen. Our rallycross group is hoping to rent the place, circle-track guys are hoping it opens again for those events, and Cleetus hosts all kibnds of wild stuff of his own. This place is 10 minutes from my house! I can't recall any automotive news as cool as this!
Wow, that's pretty dang cool! I don't watch cleetus very often, but this could be fun.

AWESOME! I bet there'll be some awesome sounds coming from over yonder, as well as some pretty wild events.
I used to not be interested in Cleetus, thinking him to be some kind of dumb yokel. After starting following him when he got Ruby, I feel bad about that judgment. He still does some stuff that seems kind of roundabout or inefficient, but he's a hell of a driver, seems like a really nice guy, and treats his friends/employees great. Also, his videos introduced me to James, who kills me.

Cleetus=Red Neck Pt Barnum
I really need to become youtube famous so i can but a racetrack
In reply to NickD :
I kinda thought he was a tool but I need to look at why I have this view as he might be a righteous dude.
I'll throw up if I hear any more about loud exhaust sounding like Bald Eagles on his videos but this seems pretty awesome!
And making anything related to being a NASCAR-ready vehicle street-ready is AWESOME

I seems like some Youtubers are doing really cool stuff with their money.
I love Cleetus's Rat Daytona
I didn't get to him until a couple months ago, thinking his content would be in the too cool for school v8/street racing/drag racing macho bracket, but he is quite entertaining and seems like a solid guy. The vlog style vids are easy watching during brekkie or lunch breaks. Psyched to see what he does with it. DO IT FOR DALE.
I make the Bald Eagles comment above and 5 minutes later I open YouTube and look what I see:

Obvious that Mr McFarland has never heard a bald eagle express itself
Pretty cool to see someone taking over that facility that will put it to good use. I also grew up going there often to watch my uncle race in everything from vintage modifieds, to late model Camaros, and even a VW Rabbit.
Looking forward to the circus he has running around there. He's living the dream that most of us have....to own a racetrack.
How much money do you make with 2 million subs these days?
i know he's crushing the regular TV guys like on Powerblock with the number of views he gets.

This? That's not his. That was built by Tredwear. He looked at buying it, but didn't.

"...living the dream that most of us have..."? Dude, have you seen his motorhome and his girlfriend? I'd say it's the dream ALL of us have. Or had. I remember getting my license in 1986 and thinking how the party was over with respect to good times and cool cars. I was 20 years too young. Or so I thought. Hell, the party hadn't even started.
I couldn't dream something this cool!
These popular YouTube channels. So much cash.
Phhhhhsssbt the crapcan racing channel I setup for the gfs racing endeavors on Pornhub is the way to generate more money per a view when compared to Youtube, (all content is PG13) and their servers are much faster for uploading and livestreaming in car during races. Naming race livestreams as "hot milf takes on 60+ guys during 12 hour lemon party" generates an impressive amount of views as well.

Sounds kinda like a turbo with some wastegate flutter.

You know what, I'm willing to try that. Thank you.

Wait, what?
His Leroy videos are pretty good. The one where is girlfriend describes "her" Vette is pure gold, funny stuff. He seems like a good dude and am excited to see what this new twist brings.
In reply to DirtyBird222 :
Uploads are seriously MUCH easier and the streams don't lag nearly as much, it's one of the more intelligent things I've managed over the past year.
