On Corbeau's website, it says that if you will use your car for performance driving, you should get the double locking sliders. I'm probably going to get it since I need a comfortable sport seat asap, but I'm wondering if it's a marketing gimmick or not. Or maybe they shouldn't have made a single locking slider in the first place. Anyway, what says the hive, are the double locking sliders necessary for safety?

Yep. In an accident there have been seats that have folded and deformed due to one half continuing forward (or backward) while the other half sits still.

A bit more critical for racing style seats, but then none of Corbeau's seats are FIA rated so you probably wouldn't use them in competition without a back brace anyway.

Corbeau has several FIA approved fixed back racing seats, but I just happened to purchase their base Forza sport seat. I bought the dual locking slider to be safe, so I will eventually do the same with the passenger seat eventually, thanks!

I think some groups require double locking brackets for HPDE if you have aftermarket sliders.

Aren't OEM sliders double locking?

Not all OEM sliders are double locking from my experience. both my civics factory have only locking mechanism on one side/slider. Maybe I should look into double locks for my track car.

The seat sliders for a Fox Chassis Ford are pieces of crap, especially if you are (well) over 300# and you like to pull Gs. The forces involved can tear the bolt holes right off the slider.

Also, if you get the Corbeau single slider, the force resisting fore and aft movement of the seat is all one one side, which tries to turn the square (bottom of the) seat frame into a trapezoid. If you like welding your seats, this is ideal.

Advantages of the double slider: First, where it bolts to the floor, the thing is made of 1/8" steel. Not quite as likely to break. Second, the double locking mechanism keeps some of the wierd forces off the seat frame, which helps with seat longetivy. Third, the bail-type handle is easier to get at, especially for fat guys.

Hope this helps.
