Dang, the spine really says "October"! How do the months pass so quickly when the days just drag on & on?

p.98. Gotcha. And $80 for the little compressor, when I've got an Alfa to grind!

Berkeley, I love you guys.

Per, nice column this month. I'm not a guy like you about the paint & trim codes, but I've sure known a few..I drive em nuts when I say I bought my black 92 GTI even though there was a Monty Green in the showroom. IIRC, the MG paint was a $500 option.

So, black it was.

Our readers buy stuff, they keep advertising, my paycheck gets covered, the guy at the porn and malt liquor store stays in business. So, yes. Thanks. jg

That's a sweet deal on the jack. If you argue enough, they'll combine coupons too.

I haven't seen the ad yet, my perscription ran out, Is it the red plastic one with the big wheels? If so that puppy is nice, comfortable, place for some tools, light, and rolls on the rough surface in my parking lot quite nicely.

I recently put a "free" sign on a HF creeper and set it out at the curb. If you buy one, before you use it, remove all of the casters and re-install with blue Loctite: the bolts quickly work loose from vibration and the casters fall off. Getting them back on, and tightly, is a PITA. Also, skip the one that has the adjustable headrest: PITA to carry the creeper around, as the headrest is always flopping into the up position.

On a more positive note, I bought one of their aluminum jacks about 5 years ago and the thing continues to work great after a ton of use.

If you get the little jack, make sure it has the bleeding procedure on it. If not, I know the big one does-read and memorize! Invariably you will end up hauling it on its side and need to bleed it, only to find out the directions don't come on the little one.

Yeah I just got the August Issue 2 days ago as well.

I'm excited - I've been eyeing that aluminum jack for awhile now. Good to know GRM benefits from more reckless spending.

Now, I have absolutely no problem hacking up Car&Driver or Road and Track if needed. Fortunately I already have an HF jack, although $60 is pretty tempting. Just have to justify the "need" for a second jack to the family controller and matriarch !!!

I agree. Put them on one of these "drop out" cards and I suspect you will get a lot more using it.

If you use a R&T coupon, do they know it came from R&T?

FYI -

I've used that HF creeper for about 4 years now and have been pleased with it. I'm about 170 lbs (no where near the weight limit of 300lbs), but it's held up fine to a ton of use.

Put the on the Drop Out cards and they will Drop Out into the trash can before I look at them.

I bet HF would have no problem at all scanning your magazine without cutting the coupon out. They usually don't keep the coupons anyway, just scan them.

Yes they will, the barcode is different. They can probably tell the difference between a Grassroots and Classic one even if the ad looks the the same.

What an individual store might allow could vary, but the fine print on the coupons is pretty explicit - no duplication of any kind, etc.

For what it is worth, I have both the impact wrench and the polisher in the lower right corner of the page. For occasional use, I'd say either is well worth $30.

Mrs. BDT probably won't even notice an additional floor jack in the garage.

The creeper is actually $2.00 cheaper through the HF sales paper, $14.99. The few other items I checked were cheaper through the GRM ad.

I was reading "American Rifleman" at my father-in-law's house a few hours ago. Not my usual reading material, but specialist magazines are always interesting to peruse. Anyhow, there was a coupon for that same HF jack for $69.99. HF loves GRM more!

I hated mine, at 280 I would drag on the ground instead of the wheels. I gave it to someone less robust to use.

I laughed when I saw the coupon. My wife had just bought the same jack (with the LED's though) a few weeks ago for my birthday. She used a 20% coupon but it still cost more than that. Great deal for sure. I actually used the jack for the first time yesterday and I love it! So much lighter than my old steel on and it will fit under my Miata without 2x4's as well!

I'm giving a friend the 20% coupon to buy a trailer.

I've had that jack for a few years now and love it. I've never had to bleed it either. I also have the large aluminum jack and have to bleed it all the time....I wish it were as reliable as the small one.
