I accidentally found this stupid show on tv yesterday. It's like Wipe-Out, but with P71's. I could not look away.

I caught that one channel surfing. It was kinda dumb, but entertaining.
They sure did tear up some Crown Vics, though!
I was going to post something about this show too......
I truly feel dumber today for watching that. That being said I'll probably watch it again next week.....
The worst part for me is seeing them tear up Belle Isle. Right on the pad where we do autocrosses.
From what I understand, they left quite a mess to clean up, too.
All of us local clubs do everything we can to keep the lots in great condition, and these guys come along and seem to tear things up.
BTW, did you note the very close calls on the cars coming off the truck? One almost hit a camera guy, and the other hit a light pole. And then theres the one where the driver went off course, and almost ran over another camera guy....

No doubt. Somebody's gonna get hurt on that show. I know their liability insurance guy must be freaking out!
Watching P71's race was cool, even if most of them got hammered. Kinda shoes how tough they are.
That said, the show was stupid and the safety was SEVERELY lacking! The roomate team on their last run the guy nearly hit every person on course. In some shots you can see camera guys running away!
I didn't know their location was an autocross spot, that saddens me. They really did tear the crap out of it.

Indeed they did. I was there at the first event after Crash Course was done filming. The start of the event was delayed several hours because of all the cleanup we had to do. There was all kinds of junk, both large and small, all over the site. I personally spent about an hour sweeping up in one of their crash zones, lots of little bits of Crown Vic scattered around, and the city of Detroit had some heavy equipment out there to move the bigger stuff. And, to top it all off, those graphics painted on the lot (the "bowling alley" the targets, and everything else) were mostly still there and were very slippery, so the organizers had to route the course around them.
Totally agree on the safety, or lack thereof. I saw two camera people almost get hit, and I saw lots of Crown Vics on their roofs, sliding into light poles, hitting other cars that were stood up on end, etc. All with open helmets and negligible head-and-neck protection. Yes, there were cages, but still. I wonder if the contestants knew what kind of risks they were taking, especially doing stunts like driving onto the moving flatbed. Pretty irresponsible, IMO, and not something I'd ever sign up for.

I kinda hate to admit it, but throughout that show, I was thinking of you and hoping you were watching.
Yea- Belle Isle- mostly around the pad that Penske put down for the GP. Some on pavement, some off. They did a high speed loop around the fountain. I was stunned by the Rally Cross stuff they did on the grass next to where we play...
And one wonders how we get such a bad rap.
Thankfully, the Detroit Public Service people, or Parks- whoever we work with, are quite cool. We are working on a reduced rate for next year.

+1. Maybe some of the footage will show up on youtube, but some of the hits showed the passengers' heads move in an incredibly violent manner. At a minimum, they will be sore for a LONG time.
I just couldn't believe how bad the driving was. A team of autocrossers could destroy all comers easily on that show.

Actually, if you watch the part where they change drivers, you see them drive away WITHOUT the harness attached. Somehow, by the time they end, there's a harness on both of them....
I actually caught some of it last night....the brother/sister team looked a little too... "close".
And the husband/wife team needed to have the wife pimp slapped.

QFT. I've met some biotches in my life, but that one took the cake, and not even a good cake.
I would have preferred if "the johns" from Wipe-Out were narrating. the commentary wasn't that imaginary.

Have you ever seen Most Extreme Challenge? That is the show that Wipe Out is based on. If you think "the johns" are funny, just wait til you hear the original. And the challenges are much better.

a ridiculous obstacle course that must be navigated by a team of drivers in a P71. best time wins. i think last night was the first one.

i kinda forgot about that show. i remember watching it on cable years ago.
I watched a new episode tonight, one of the cars broke a tie rod in one scene, they changed drivers and miraculously the car could steer again, the driver then immediately blew a rear tire.
Fun show, but very shoddy safety.
Orlando Bloom, has that man ever had a thought he didn't immediately say aloud
