I've always wanted to do a last-gen Integra with a midships TSX K24 in it. Not cheap donors, though.

A 3 door Saab hatch with that kind of engine would be phenomenal. Hell, put it under glass like on the 360 Modena. There are so many hatchbacks, and so many great engines. You shouldn't have any problem finding an awesome combination.
I was severly underwelmed by Saabs V6s, until the new ones which make ludicrous amounts of torque with a jak stone chip.
Take an old 900, and put a 9000 2.3T in there if you want to make something REALLY crazy.

AE172?

that thing looks great dude.
whatever you do, you HAVE to do a SHOYugo with those fender flares. on paper it just looks SO right it would be a crime if you didn't
Gen 1 CRX HF. Very light to start with.
Not sure which motor, though.
I bet a Fiesta would be interesting, too. They are darned light to start with.

PorschesOnTheCheap wrote: I LOVE the Chevette idea! If I could only find one around here... Other thoughts so far have been a 2-door VW Golf with a mid-mounted VR6. If cost were no object (which it is), we'd do a second-gen Golf 2 door with a longitudinally mounted Audi 2.7 twin turbo V6 hooked to a FWD Passat (B5) 5-speed.
Thats a great idea! The 2.7L feels much stronger than what they're rated for IMO. If you get the ECU reprogrammed it'll have 318hp/382lb-ft on 93 octane or so they say. Of course I am biased since I have a A6 2.7T. But like you've noticed, it can be expensive stuff.

Thanks Tim!
I'm going to check out the Corolla. I'm thinking a Camry V6 on a second-gen MR2 rear subframe...
And, Slyp_Dawg, I want that Yugo! That thing is so bad ass! I second the SHO idea for your car, that would be killer.

I assume you are talking to me.
Everything is for sale at the right price.
Part of me would like to sell the N* SHOYugo project to someone else who might get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Part of me says, "No way!"
I have wanted to drop a blown big block into the back of a station wagon since my mom had an '85 Country Squier(sp?)

that isn't my Yugo, that's SVreX's Yugo
@ SVreX: get working on the N* SHOYugo! it'll be an interesting project, and at least two people want to see it done!

agreed. my mom used to have I think a Mk.1 Fiesta (not sure about the mk.1 bit, but it was built in the same factory as the VW Rabbit, and the only difference was which badge got put on it, whether the hood dipped down or bulged up, and which dealership it got shipped to), and as per her, it weighted 1800 pounds, with 1200 of that on the front wheels. the rear wheels were just there to keep the rear bumper off the ground, more or less

If those 2 people would like to come to my house for a couple weekends, we'll put 'er on the lift and grab a blowtorch. I'll supply the beer and the place to sleep.
being one of the two, I would, except I'm a few too many states away and tied up with school at the moment. but apart from that, it would be a very interesting project
Anyone heard of Zcars? They have this figured out.
How about an omni or daytona with a 3.5 or srt4 setup?
If it doesn't have to be a hatch I would like a B13 sentra with a sideways 3.5 or SR20
4AGE yaris and pinSHO are some more ideas
heres a midengine del sol build thread. I like how he welded the box section to keep the strut towers lined up after he cut them out. simple yet genius,
http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1266033
I just found an '88 Tercel for $200... If it's fairly solid, this may be the car we cut up!
Sorry about the Yugo confusion SVrex and Slyp_Dawg. I wasn't paying attention. The car is very cool, though!
Be sure that whatever transaxle you choose is cable shifted and has a hydraulic (as opposed to cable or linkage) clutch. Shift linkages are a huge pain in the ass.
Also, unless the transaxle comes with an lsd or you're willing to buy one I suggest welding the diff. I finaly welded the rear diff in my scirocco after two years of miserable understeer/one wheel peel... my bob what a glorious difference!

yep, the ZCars Mini Monte Carlo and the regular Mini are neat little cars. though I'm guessing you were talking about their conversion kit for an Opel (?) hatchback
Apexcarver wrote: Honda civic del-sol's are begging for a twin engine treatment...
My mom has a rather tired Del Sol. She won't part with it though. Perhaps I should get her into a PRHT Miata and make a twin engined beast out of her car. I'll tell here she's keeping it in the family, and that she can drive it anytime she wants.

May the ghost of Jonny Pruitt* haunt you for all your days.
If Jonny Pruitt were actually, you know, dead.

Why didn't we do that for a challenger again? that N600 with the tires stuck out like that ROCKS! This thread got me thinking of a microbus with a N* in it....that little 600cc just seems inconsiquential ?? insignificant maybe? dunno. That looks like it would rock.....oooooooo nasty thoughts....BAD BAD BAD! ok back to bed now.
