Yeah, I think that this has popped up here before. It is over 100k for a rebodied Boxster. It looks cool but I think the Beck one is like 25K cheaper and is a much truer copy.

and MUCH faster.
A 987 Boxster S based 904 "replica" weighs about 3200 or so pounds with 315 horsepower. (assuming the re-skin doesn't add any weight...)
A Beck 904 weighs around 1700 pounds dripping wet, and the standard car uses a 993 272 horsepower non-varioram engine.

Is the Beck actually cheaper?
That's pretty neat, but the wheels are too big! I know this has come up before, but dang, what's with the giant wheels everywhere?

I have to believe it is. It says on the website that the engine is customer installed.

It looks like they fitted it with a set of huge brakes that required them. I agree that they look a bit too large; if it's not as heavy as a Boxster, the brakes may be overkill.
In reply to MadScientistMatt:
If it is based on a Boxster S then you are stuck, presumably, with the smallest wheel that will fit a Boxster S. Just guessing, that is a 17 or 18. That looks about right from here.

Yeah, you can get one from him without any bells and whistles for 60K. This thing is 70K ON TOP OF a 987 Boxster. (Any 987 Boxster S worth having is still 30 grand.)

STOP IT!!! YOU'RE MAKING IT GO SOFT!!!!
IMHO, that thing is perfect. The big wheels bring it into the modern age. I'll assume some properly large brakes are fitted.

Nobody makes performance tires smaller than that these days.

If someone is right behind you, you are not driving fast enough.
"whatsa behind me doesn't matter"
I'd take the Beck also. I even researched it after seeing one local and talking with the owner that built it from a kit. Lotta work and as expensive as you want to make it depending on engine type and mods but not to unreasonable. He had about 16k in his and he did all the work. But that was a couple years ago. Thought about doing one till the realization of unfinished projects sitting in the garage and SWMBO/accountant came to me. SWMBO says one project at a time. Got away with buying a 2nd one because it was just to hard to pass up a good body (MK1 Midget) for $50.
