Zero sympathy and glad he didn't take out anyone else.
Edit: No, wait, I have a better one: Another young person enters adulthood, learning that along with free will comes responsibility and consequences.
I saw that, I keep trying to get younger drivers I know into sanctioned on track/Auto cross competition.
I know that road well. That really is a 5MPH hairpin, slightly uphill in the direction he was travelling. Fortunately he was on the outside of the turn; had he been going the other way, he would have slid across the opposite lane, which is quite blind on the approach to the corner.
You knew it was coming. Every time a new performance car comes out the internet at large loves to see the first one to make it to the recycler.
Also - is that the road up to Mohonk Preserve from New Paltz? If so, it's a great ride/drive to some of the best hiking and rock climbing in the east. I may have used "manual drift mode" on an M3 on that road a time or two :)

Well, that video will certainly not help with him retaining reasonable rates for his insurance.
Won't be able to argue such frivolous things like, the design of the birm of the road pulled him into the wall once the tire left the pavement.
The video could also increase charges to Reckless Op given what appears to be the premeditated nature of the action.
I continue to amaze at the use of GoPros to intentionally film illegal activity.

I was linked on Jalopnik, maybe they didn't enjoy all the attention? But if that's the case why they put it publicly on YouTube with nice editing is beyond me.

Someone probably finally mentioned posting it wasn't a good thing to post it due to insurance concerns.
Description of what the video is about, on Jalopnik: http://jalopnik.com/watch-this-ford-focus-rs-driver-drift-mode-his-car-into-1786210325 They do have a short gif made from the video.
"PLEASE NOTE - NYST (The NY ST Club) does not condone or approve of this reckless behavior on public roadways. The offending person was immediately booted from our club. We practice safety on the road during our cruises, and actions such as this will be dealt with with ZERO TOLERANCE.
Take it to the track, if you want to drive like this."
But interestingly, in the camera view during the second half of the video you can hyear over the radio, someone (presumably an event organizer) is ordering everyone to pull over and get out of the way because the "Focus RS is going to use Drift Mode".
"But wait, there's more!"

A blue one as well, wouldn't it be ironic if it was the same kid!

Yes, interesting...

Well, it was a good idea to get out of the way in that particular case. And if I had a Focus RS going up that road I would absolutely have a fistful of opposite lock and hopefully atleast 3 smoking tires around that curve. I don't blame the guy for trying - just the failing part. There are so many less humiliating and demoralizing ways to perfect that move before going public that there is no excuse for hitting those rocks that does not involve a hill climb or black ice.

I can't remember the title of the movie, but there's one where Stallone is transported to the future. He's in a car crash, but comes out unharmed due to being encased by some form of "safety foam".
All those air bags remind me of that scene...
