A guy local to me known as "Rally Matt" is doing a movie on rally. Details and a teaser trailer are here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rallymatt/easier-said-than-done
Donations are needed to help the film get bigger and badder. Help him get this made! You can back the film for as little as a $1, or get some schwag with bigger donations.
I have no affiliation with this film, I just think it's a neat project from a true gearhead and I can vouch this isn't some blatant money grab.
small tidbit, Matt also helped film the "Wagon Attack 2" video as a joke with another local guy Luke's Civic wagovan that went a bit viral a couple years ago.
I'm not sure how to post a vid link from kickstarter so here's a pic instead.
This is what my son is doing. May be time to break out the sneakers.

In for $40 because Wagon Attack made me really happy. And because I'm from Grand Rapids. And because I love rally. Good stuff.

rock!
...though I have to wait till payday Friday to contribute myself. :)
No need to wait. I dropped down a credit card number and got back this response via email...
email said: If this project is successfully funded, your card will be charged on: WEDNESDAY MAY 9, 10:20AM EDT When your reward is ready, Matt Johnston will send you a survey via email to request any info needed to deliver your reward (mailing address, t-shirt size, etc).
While a lot of focus is on Chris Duplessis (considering he is the epitome of grassroots success now competing in the WRC Academy) and Ken Block (for the rich guy aspect), Matt has also said he wants to focus on other grassroots people as well.
I can't wait to see the finished product!
bump for Matt. was off to a good start but long ways to go... tell your friends.

Ken Block wants YOU to donate! You wouldn't say no to Ken, would you?

Or how about saying no to such a nice guy like Travis Pastrana?

Through a buck or two in, it's easier to have 5000 people donate $10 than 500 donate $100!

I think the inclusion of guys like Block are both a blessing and a deterrent for this. At least some of the comments as it was posted on Jalopnik yesterday were along the lines of "why doesn't Block just cut a check for this"... derp.
There's a lot of anti-whoever people out there. On the other hand, someone like Block can drop a twitter command and effectively send herds of fans supporting it. win some, lose some.
Reading Matt's stories posted in the updates section on that site of his Grassroots efforts in the sport are quite entertaining.

Mainly all blessing. They (as in Ken) while well off, is a pretty down to earth guy. He'll bring the crowds, and they'll get schooled in rallying. Win-win. Individuals who would never get much air time will get their names out. It has a very North American focus.
Ken and Travis effectively saved this. It was NOT going to make it without their support. That is a big deal if you ask me.
As for Matt's stories... while I do appreciate them, I have very little love for equating ill-preparedness to rally, just as I don't like Caswell's story much. I'm much happier that they focus on people like Duplessis and Yeoman.
Wow, that is a big jump in a short time period.
