The hillclimb was originally called off due to safety concerns when a Corvette just about broke in two at the top of the hill at 100+ mph. They dodged a bullet and luckily everyone was OK but there are some pretty hefty trees and the speeds do get up there. I'm an organizer and ran last year in my very slow N.A GTX. I had a good time. We are really just focusing on having a fun and safe event. We had a blast last year and are looking forward to this year. The price is less than most track days and, while it's short, it is challenging. We accept logbooked cars and if there's no logbook the minimum cage standard is on the website.
If anyone has any questions check it out at www.empirehillclimb.com and on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/EmpireHillClimbRevival.
also... I think a MI championship combining all of the events would be awesome. we've talked about it.
