Yess! I'm of the stratos/muira ilk too - though I also really got a lot of inspiration from the ACS 2500 GT. You and I are approaching this from the same angle, and it's awesome. Can't wait to see your final.
thanks! something about that era just reads aggressive and lithe and beautiful to me, that i'd want in my own little track-bomber. i'm liking the proportions of yours, and although you're getting some critics of that sloping rear, i think it's pretty neat. with a deep diffuser you might be able to play off the opposing angles. keep us updated amigo.

It's got the coupe and gtm elements blended perfectly! That's why I think its killer!
i appreciate it. i'll be totally honest with you - i didn't even realize that it has such a resemblance to the GTM front end until i looked just now. i think when i drew it i just had that in my subconscious. i guess that's a good thing, haha. it will likely smooth out a bit in the final draft.
i'd point out things i like about every design i've seen so far but it might crash the forum. people are taking this from so many cool angles. i only hope i have the computer rendering skill to come close to some of you...i've always been a pen/ink kinda guy.
Here is another example of the Factory Five car for inspiration. (wish it had a roof though)

I like the idea. Finally a design I can get behind. :)

That is nice. I'm really diggin' the shape, but I think covering up the radiator is a mistake.
Just use twin small radiators like Porsche Boxter/Cayman/911, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.
More aerodynamically efficient, and we don't have to have a gaping hole in the middle of the car that just screams. '90's.

absolutely stunning. . I'd drive that in a heartbeat. Looks to have some nice vintage ferrari, Alfa queues. Doesn't look like everything else out there. Great design in my opinion.
Starting to get my surfaces cut in. I'm building this using polys, and boy is it labor intensive.

I've been watching this tread a few time a day since it started.
This car made me register to say "Well Done!" Very nice.
Work out a Targa or Roadster version and this will be 100% what FFR is looking for and it would slide right in with the rest of the FFR line up too boot. Retro modern AT IT'S BEST! It's seriously in the same league (or better) than the current Mustang, Camero, the new Stratos even.
Again, well done.

i truly appreciate the comments - i honestly didn't expect this kind of reaction.
PhyrraM, it's definitely meant to be a targa, primarily. in fact it's a bit of a blooper but there's supposed to be a joint at the top of the windshield frame, i just plain forgot to put that in. you can see just behind the door window that there's a latch and the seam of the targa top. whoops! i mentally check out early on Fridays

Yeah, I also really like it.
My design contest entry,
The car is 67" wide, 150.5" long, with the specified wheelbase of 95"
(Although the wheelbase is close to 5" longer than a Lotus Elise, the actual car is only 1.5" longer. )

90's? Really? A large front opening says performance to me. Appearently to a lot of others too.

Large front openings say aero inefficiency/ drag, especially since very little up front is required for a car with the motor in the rear. A lot of these designs incorporate oversized front openings. They are a fashion and a pretty bad one with regard to performance.

I see the latch now. Cool beans. Really looking forward to seeing the design being fleshed out.
Post this over on the Factory Five Forums too. A good parallel conversation going on too.

I'd agree except that that is where the template puts the radiator. Radiators need airflow to work . Period. The RX-7, MR-2 and Corvairs died early because of cooling problems that were created for the sake of aerodynamics. The exotic solution of twin radiators add weight and expense. This car is supposed to have a 15k completion cost with one donor car and a weight of just 818kg. Is it any wonder that only cars that cost in excess of 100k have this exotic cooling system?

Before you guys go nuts, I did do an open version with painted body panels as well. This contest is awesome.

Understood. One antidote is to use a bonnet exhaust which increases the velocity of the flow through the radiator (and underneath the car, another plus.) and can also aid in downforce if wanted. A good example is the X1/9, which can have cooling problems with a stock configuration but cool very well with top side venting. It can actually create too much downforce if not properly designed.
In reply to Hasbro:
You're not really a half dork, Hasbro. This very true about the bonnet exhaust, although I am unfamiliar the with X1/9, that's a Fiat right?
In reply to 05xtsy:
Man that's slick, and yeah this contest is becoming everything that FFR & GRM wanted it to be. Spirited disscusions and all.
