Let’s say.... 2015 or newer. Go! And fastest can mean whatever. Straight line, autocross, track car, etc.

Yep. This is the answer. Period.

The title says new(er) so I think a low mileage one would be fair game.
Can I throw in a Challenger too please?
2016 Camaro SS.
V8 Row your own 6 gears.
Ride with the bald eagles in your american thrill machine
Autox, track... both covered under warranty...
Just remember to pull your airbag fuse...
6th gen camaros are quick, fairly comfortable and have plenty of modern tech if you want that stuff. They're competitively classed for autox and perform well there.
Mustangs are nice cars to drive.. But the camaro are faster... hands down..

Not quite 2015 but you already know the answer:

I actually think the jag outruns the crammit...

You can find new, last year's model GT Mustangs for under $30k every time the new model year comes out. Of course, that is the base model. But you didn't ask about amenities, just speed/quickness.
As mentioned, I’ve seen new Mustang GTs for $28-$29k. It’s going to be pretty hard to beat that value.
@dootz: I think that Jag XJR linked earlier would destroy a Chevy SS. But a new GT auto will be just as fast.
Rodan said:XJR is fast, sure, but I think I'd rather have the Camero/Mustang when the warranty is up...
But the question wasn't "what old slow reliable car do you want to commute in for 20 years?"...
The jag was what, $120k new? And 3-4 years later only worth $30k? I don't think you're the only one who doesn't want to own it when the warranty is up!

Have used Golf Rs gotten that cheap, that aren't ragged out or high mileage?

Indeed. Are we talking stock-only cars here, or does light modding count too? There are a number of turbo cars under $30K that respond really well to ECU tuning.
I've seen a couple C6 Z06 in the 28-32k range on the Corvette FB pages. That would probably be the winner if you can snag one of under 30k
I found a 2014 CTS-V or two for right at 30k. The newever ones which claim a 3.9-4.0 0-60 time. Looks like the coupes are cheaper than the sedans in most cases.

I didn't consider those...
You're right.. Not terribly practical but they're fast in basically everything.
In reply to spacecadet :
In hindsight it might be a couple years outside of the criteria but whatever

Just make sure the $10k cylinder head/ valvetrain fix has been done...

$10k? Maybe at a dealer. You can get new replacement heads all day for under $1800. Add another grand for incidentals if you want, and a DIY job could be done for under $3k and a weekend of work.
