My prediction is that they are broken. Not separated but a lot of flex. It only takes a few times dumping the clutch. Once you get the car running, engage the clutch against the brakes (in 1st and reverse) and watch the motor move. It should only move an inch or so. It might be time for new mounts and inserts to beef them up. Be ready for engine vibrations if you do. Or consider solid mounts. And if you don't have solid shifter bushings by now, you should. I did a fair amount of drag racing in my 98 DOHC, broke 2 set of mounts and 1 axle, (driver side).
How does the MP bobble strut compare to the adjustable one from Polybushings? Just curious.
I have a first gen solid front mount if you're interested. It has been just kicking around the garage for a few years since my brother bought it for his 95 but never used it.

The adjustable one is probably solid. And the adjustment needs to be right or the cable shifter might not work right. I had an AFX on mine for a while. The MP bobble strut is similiar to OEM except stiffer. I had one of those too. It is still a hydraulic shock type affair.
Yes the polybushings/AFx/Neongoodies one is a sold rod with bushings on the top and bottom of the bracket
