I love Fiats, but the Pinto has a lot going for it. You could put all manner of serious motors into the Pinto, and there is enough aftermarket to make one do almost anything you want.

I think the Fiat is probably the more "modern" of the two cars.

For a car that's going to be close to stock, the Fiat. For something wild and just plain nuts, Pinto, and make it a wagon, please.

I think the Fiat is much better looking.

And I know FWD cars can be a ball.

But I gotta go Pinto.

If it was stock for stock, I'm pretty sure I'd go Fiat, but as soon as I can start monkeying with things (and when am I not going to do that?) I'd rather do the Pinto.

The 128 was such a good little car. It also made an awesome race car. I remember seeing one on track in the early '70's and it almost won overall, even though it was not in the fastest class. It was running off and leaving Alfa GTA's and 2002's.

And, Enzo Ferrari chose one as his personal transportation back in the day. Somehow I don't think Henry drove a Pinto.

The fiat by a mile. It might be FWD but it's got style. The only thing going for the Pinto is RWD. Though if it was a wagon with a bunch of mods...

I distinctly remember a reporter asking Mario Andretti what it was like to drive 200 MPH.

Reporter: "Is it like driving a Pinto at 80 MPH?"

Andretti: "It's more like driving a Pinto at 20".

Friend of mine had a pinto.. when that died, he bought a Chevette (T1000 pontiac) and when that went.. a Festiva.

Fiat, the only real down side is rust. I don't hate pintos, but I'd never want to own one. They don't even have reclining seats if I remember right.

While the Fiat is a good looking car and the design is good the build quality and reliabilty of the Fiats of that era were total crap! Having said that the Pinto was no shinning star either but you could fix it yourself, parts were available and cheap, even today. Try that with a Fiat!

Lets try a new comparison: Fiat 131 vrs BMW 2002.

Totally not true. When you maintained them, they were as reliable as a Pinto, and parts are still cheap. They are very easy as a DIY car also.

In reply to jimbbski:

Your comparison of Fiat 131 vs BMW 2002 is chronologically out of whack. The Fiat 124 Sport Coupe was the 2002's contemporary. The Fiat 131 should be compared with the BMW 320.

Please don't post pictures of this car! You are causing me a great deal of lost time at work and with my family. Further posting pictures like this will cause men to sin because it fills their hearts with lust. In the future please only post pictures of this car behind a tree or an other car to obscure it as I don't know if I can take!!

Seriously I love your car. It is amazing!!

My first car was a 75 Fiat 128 Coupe. My vote is the Fiat, but parts are hard to come by around here. Pinto has more aftermarket. But coolness factor is Fiat.
