Really looking forward to this race and season!
Well, five laps into the season, maybe Merc isn't as far back as it seemed.
Following does seem easier at first glance, with Carlos, Max and Checo in line.
Ferrari seems legitimately quick out front.
These cars are sexy looking!
The #2 driver usually has a yellow camera. Now it's been added to the front wheel...things...so it's easier to distinguish the cars. And interestingly, Lewis is wearing those colors. Is it so he can match his old helmet, or is this a message? The two Mercedes are more distinct from each other than any other team because Lewis really played up that highlight.
In-helmet cam is awesome.
I wonder if the Mercedes is working better in the wake of another car?
Based on Hamilton's out lap on cold tires, post-pit laps are going to be really interesting this year! That may take the undercut off the table.
Is anyone else using (or trying to use) the f1tv app on Roku? It's always been a bit unstable but I couldn't get it to work at all this morning. Fortunately I have an HDMI cable for the laptop already plugged into the TV!
Racing has been great so far. That Verstappen/Leclerc battle was amazing. I'm hoping McLaren manages to turn things around.
Is my math right? If they finish like this, Haas would be 6th in the constructors'? That excites me!
Heck of a battle up front, but seeing the Red Bull have brake problems- it may not have lasted even if he got it to stick.
In terms of the close racing, the new car has shown it's very capable.
Merc may be where they think but they have a long way to go. It seems that the sacrificed some downforce to get the car to lessen the bouncing, and that's being reflected in the tire wear. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for them to figure it out. If they can.
Merc seems to have twofold problems. First is the aero issue with porpoising and the car being unsettled but you can see the lack of power across all the Mercedes powered cars. I guess the good news (for them)is they are still near the front as is.
I think Mercedes is running experiments with the two drivers to gather data. They're taking advantage of basically being guaranteed 5th and 6th.
I think the Mercedes power unit isn't the beast that it once was relative to the others. The customer teams are duking it out at the back of field.
EDIT: NY Nick beat me to it.
One of the teams (I've forgotten who with all the excitement) has big LED rings on the wheel guns showing correct torque has been reached. Sounds like a very good idea.
Wow, you don't want to leave early. That was dramatic. When Perez didn't rejoin, I wondered it if was an engine problem.
Who is Horner going to throw under the bus for this? Can't be Honda...
Funny. I was thinking Merc engines are a problem and 3/4 Honda power cars poo out in the last 10 laps
That was a dramatic finish.
Congratulations Ferrari- heck of a start to the season.
And some major damage control for Mercedes- letting the Red Bulls just not finish. Given their bouncing, I'm still not all that convinced that it's a power issue for them. Even Aston thinks their bouncing issue is 3/4 of a sec.

Who'd a thunk power unit failure for the Red Bulls?
Didn't expect that, but should have seen some writing after Gasley's fire.
