Other than losing his nut over the radio, what has he done to gain a fan base? There is a less than zero chance he would survive in a Red Bull seat.

I agree and think that's the biggest reason he was passed over, that and the speed after 4 seasons vs Lawsons fill in gig speed.

It would have been a lot easier had he out qualified and beaten Liam every race. He had his chance to prove himself, but ended up as a footnote in overall RBR fights- it was quite a bit of Liam v Checo and not much of Yuki.
Yuki did out-quality Liam at all 6 races they shared, though Liam outqualified in him in 2 sprints. Overall they were pretty close. I could see the argument that Yuki should have put more gap on him with his greater experience and maybe he has plateaued, while Liam's ceiling has not been found yet.
As far as maturity goes, didn't Liam flip off the guy whose seat he was trying out for in the middle of a race? I will call them even on in that area too.
Edit: That was at the Mexican GP! I can't believe he made it out of there alive LOL
Isack Hadjar: What You Need To Know Ahead Of His Debut F1 Season Alongside Yuki Tsunoda I am surprised that they didn't sign Calpinto, the $20 Million out must have been real, plus RB choice RB Jr. driver. This must be the most Rookie/F2 gradutes to make it to F1 in a while.
I'm a little surprised, several F2 champions have been passed over, and a couple of current drivers were looked at and also passed over.....Drugovich, Pourchaire, Colapinto, Borteleto.....is it sponsorship money, or some inate talent they see in the guys they chose vs these guys?
In reply to MiniDave :
It's always a combination of those things.
I once had an hour long conversation with Roberto Guerrero and he was telling me how he was once headed out the door to Indy just as the team called him to say they'd signed up a young ride buyer.
I asked about how frustrating that must have been and he mentioned he really couldn't be upset as he'd started his F1 career by bringing money.
It's a business and so teams what works best overall. Remember F1 is a constructors championship...............they just happen to award a driver with a championship.
In reply to MiniDave :
Passed over or turned down the offer? The only RBR drivers that have stayed after being #2 are Albon and Sainz. Other than that, they get 6 months and are dumped.

Borteleto is driving for sauber next year.
In reply to MiniDave :
The contract roles for test/JR drivers must be air tight, because Borteleto was a Sauber Jr driver, Doohan was a Alpine Jr driver, Bearman was HAAS/Ferrari Reserve Driver, and finally Hadjar was RB Jr. driver. Colapinto was only in the Williams this year because he was a Jr./Reserve driver for Williams.

Sounds like it will be a very exciting season

Autosport published a list of Lewis's top 10 Mercedes drives and I have been working my way through the whole list, currently on Brazil 2016. F1TV really is great

I kinda remember these. Some things are clear, like how badly Ricciardo beat the hell out of Seb. And how dominant Merc was.
I'd forgotten how quick Bottas was in the Williams.
Jurgen Klopp will serve as Red Bull's Global Head of Football starting on January 1. Helmut Marko has been enthusiastic about the prospect of joining their Formula One team.
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
Bottas was really something when he appeared on the scene. The only piece of F1 merch that I own is a Williams Bottas hat.
