Our reman calipers are the same as everyone else's, but "coated" in a black paint. I've had a handful come back in the last 6 months, and we sell a lot of them. I'd use them on anything not on a race track.

I use Altrom exclusively on my cars. We use Altrom exclusively for many German and Korean cars. (Three words: Hyundai 2.0l belts. shudder ) I tell everyone I know about using Altrom parts. If it's a secret then it sure as hell isn't for a lack of trying on my part.

When they switched to the Eclipse branding, I noticed that the calipers seem to need a break-in period. Expect a crappy pedal for a week or so until the seals stop over-retracting the pistons.
I've had a few where I've had to chase the threads in the hanger because of over-application of the coating. They do work as advertised, though, the calipers and hangers don't rust, which is the usual cause of worn pads up here.
We do enough business with some unnamed national auto parts chain that they offered to paint our building blue and grey with a red stripe 
Gotta love that national warranty, it gives customers peace of mind and we've got business from it too.

dangit, how did I miss this thread the first few times around. Definitely a lot of good info in here; glad to see my AAA membership useful for something else too.
the only time i go near the blue store here is for machine work since its the only machine shop in town. Thanks for the tip on the hand tools though 
ALTROM is very expensive for E30 parts. Everything I was interested in is significantly cheaper elsewhere

I was looking up Altrom stuff last week for Woody's 996 and was finding the Porsche parts and part #'s. I even had the Beru coils in stock. Seemed reasonable, but I didn't check Pelican to compare.
How are your NAPA Legend line of batteries? They are the only one that the website says fits me 318ti. What are the different tiers of NAPA batteries?
Now if only the website would tell me if the part I want is in stock and not to call for availability, and my store, is crazy busy and answering the phone isn't high on their list of priorities.

I think "call for availability" is code for "we don't have it in the store so if you call you can find out how long it will take".

Just resurrecting this thread, as I need to do the Miata brakes (pads and rotors), mainly because I'm putting on new wheels and tires and the old brake stuff is ugly.
So...the Altrom stuff that I would have ordinarily have skipped right over is the stuff that I actually want? Is the Altrom Ultra 8 stuff a reasonable choice?
ultra 8 is altroms economy line
Ultra 8 is a re-boxing of parts from the cars home country, so think Japanese "economy" parts for a Miata. Likely still better than 99% of USA parts house stuff. The branded Altrom stuff is what you really want though (Brembo, Advios, PBR, etc).

I want to save a couple bucks, since the shop I used put mismatched arms on 1 year ago, and I finally realized it has been screwing with my alignment. Still don't want Chinese or Taiwanese parts, though.
FWIW, in respect to the first post...
The best pads I ever had on my RX-7 were TrueStops. And I specifically ordered Master Ride stabilizer links for my Volvo because they do NOT have grease fittings. I have a severe bias against any front end parts with grease fittings, they don't seem to last anywhere near as long as nongreaseable. And the MRC links come with Nylocks while the "good" line comes with horrible squashed nuts that I will throw away before trying to use them. I've destroyed a few sets of links trying into install those junk, so I save the old nuts any time I can.
We generally don't use MRC because they don't have the same level of warranty, though.
