I keep finding the iron block version of the LS engines for very cheap prices south of the border. Here in Canada they seem to be more of a unicorn than a commodidy.

Am I just looking in the wrong places or is $1500 just the going price at the recyclers? And that is with zero accesories so not really suitable for chalenge projects.

Do you have "you pull" type yards? Any 1999+ full size Chevy/GMC truck/suv/van will have one.

Standard Auto Wreckers in Scarborough has a 5.3 out of a 2002 Suburban for $499. link You might also want to try Dom's in Courtice (link) but I never have good luck with their search function. Your typing may vary.

i've seen 5.3's with lowish (under 100,000) miles for $350 on www.car-part.com. they get more expensive really fast if you want all the accessories, wiring, and ecm.
