My dad had a ‘62 when I was a kid, very similar to that one but white.

Very cool car. Every time he used it, mpgs where part of the conversation.

He traded it for a ‘66 Fleetwood Brougham. Even the front and rear vent windows were powered.

Very cool cars. I liked them because I could ride in the front seat right in the middle.

That's the last year of the good 390. If you engine swap it I'll buy the leftovers cause I'm an engine whore in addition to a wheel whore. If you keep it then I have Studebaker adjustable rockers that'll work on it.

I like those. My good friend Tony had a 63? that had a 429?. I think that his family was conceived in it.

Mine gets lots of dead body in the trunk jokes. Also, nobody ever guesses the year right. Mine's a '66, and a guy with a '65 (the only other year that shares the body style, but with visible differences) couldn't get it right.

I remember being 10 or so and someone ag a gas station asking my dad if it was a ‘67 (we were in the ‘66 at the time) and I would think what a moron, the ‘67 has the headlights at an angle ... never paid attn to ‘65s.

If the deal goes down, the first thing that will happen is to clean my garage and get it under cover.

It will take some staring and pondering to figure out which direction it goes.

It has some rust in the hood that doesn't thrill me but if we can agree on a price, for this car I will be willing to tackle rust repair again.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

I had a 65 coupe. I bought it in Hemet California . Two friends and I drove it up the coast to Oregon and snowboarded on Mount Hood on August 6th 1989. Then continued back to Michigan. Leaving the ski area we see a guy hitchhiking down to HoodRiver carrying a snowboard.  we stopped to pick him up. He is from Scotland . He begins to put  the board in the car. I say let's put it in the trunk. He said that it would not fit. I said let me try to get it in the trunk , knowing that my  Sims 171 Blade and Craig's Elan 207 GS skis are already tucked in next to our camping gear and 2 large coolers. His jaw was slack when he saw the contents of the boot. I think that he gave us a nice chunk of the local green wax

I've worked on a few various Cadillacs of this vintage. Expect unobtainium parts for electrical repair and AC repair. However a vintage Air Universal kit fits very nicely

Yep.  Before GM got smart (or dumb depending how you look at it).  Cad used to get their own parts.  Even if some of them were carbon copies of other GM branded parts, they were labeled and numbered for “Cadillac” and priced accordingly.  I’m not saying that there are not some unique parts there.  There are.  I don’t believe any of it is unobtainable though.  We aren’t talking about an SJ Duesenburg or a ‘15 Stutz Bearcat.

The Cadillac world is all about contacts. Modified Cadillac chapter of the Cadillac LaSalle club has this list of vendors.

Need documentation/manuals for your old Cadillac then we have this also:

Toyman01 if you need a shop manual I most likely have one to lend. If I have a spare you can have it.

I once tried towing with a Cadillac Coupe DeVille.  The rear overhang was so long that any tongue weight would make the nose point straight up.  I ended up adding air shocks and inflating them to 150 psi just to level out the car.  It actually made a lousy tow car.  I replaced it with a Ford E150 Van, which was a huge improvement.
