We have just started a new series and we are looking for more people to come join in. I know there are at least a half dozen of you out there that have raced with us in the past but have moved on.

We are re running the ET series (from our 1st series in GT6) so if you races with us back then you can just jump in your old car and join in.

For those that have not raced with us or are afraid that you are not good enough no worries we have a handy cap system in place that seems to be working very well and it really promotes parity. Also people share tunes and are all around very helpful.

No it is not "real racing" but it is a REALLY good substitute or fill in for when you can not be at the track.

Link to thread here on GRM about the series.

So if you have a PS3 and GT6 go on over to Sim Centrial and youc an read a bunch more

And some photos from our previous series (yes we do crash) The graphics really are that good by the way.

I needed a GT6 driver back in 2005 when I bought this 1969 Triumph GT6 Plus

Keith was the GT6 driver I found, he drove it 400 miles across Ontario Canada. In winter. With no chase car or other help. Therefore I nominate Keith as a GRM GT6 driver...

FYI- have a ps4. Will be getting GT sport day it's released. Wanted to ask you questions about this series: Does everyone use a wheel? What wheels do you find work best? Does the wheel offer a completely offset/unfair advantage like forza did? (In forza, if you had a wheel you were a few seconds faster, if you had a wheel with a CLUTCH you were a near 10-30secs faster than anyone with a wheel simply because you could exploit the clutch around corners to adjust the torque delivered to the tires. So a 600hp viper could have 150hp around the corner and then FLYYY down the straight. It made racing ridiculous. Almost as if you were in a "class" by yourself.)

Also, how are the wrecks? Accidental is fine. But the blatant retards would ruin the experience entirely.

For the ps3 the g27 seems to be the standard. However when we eventually go to the ps4 it is going to mean new wheels.

With regards to the wheel versus a controller there ate advantages both ways. So there is no clear winner there. Obviously a wheel makes it less like a game and more like a sim but we have guys running with on controllers that are really fast. I think that there are some cars that are harder than others with the controller. All in all the makers of gt6 did a good job of keeping parity between the two.

The one place where the controller is king is for drifting.

Did you dodge the wrecking question on purpose? Lol. I'll still play.

We are pretty serious about the racing aspect of it. Contact does happen but everyone in the group is very good running in traffic.

It is a rule that if you do punt/bump someone off the track to slow, off the racing line, to allow the person you punted back on front of you.

We have had some extremely close tight racing battles the last from the drop of the green to the checkered flag. If you can keep Sauce from running away out front that is.

No asshatery goes on during the races, besides usual racing incidents. We do tend to play around a little bit more during practice.

Most of the core guys have been running together weekly for years. There is a learning curve for the regulars and the new comers to get used to running close with each other.

It's a really good fun group.

Sounds like I'm in... In November. I'm a long time GT guy. Been racing since I was 12 years old. It taught me everything about cornering. The license tests, the original gran turismo "how to race" manual, I was king of that game at my School. My buddies would get so pissed they wouldn't play with me anymore. (I toot my horn, but realize I'll be dead last when I play with you guys!) sounds like a lot of fun.

No just missed it.

Nick summed it up very well. We treat it like real racing for the most part. Dive bombing is frowned on but side by side racing is some of the most exciting racing you can have. The key to making I work is the same as real racing. Both drivers have to give a little and play nice.

The key here is we are not racing computer cars. Every car on the track is a real person. The same as real racing. It is one of the things that make this so much fun.

Ohya. Microphones are encouraged. It helps if we have to do a restart and also helps when you are racing close. We have lots of fun chatting and what not. Sharing setups and helping each other with lines and stuff. But when we go green we try to keep the chatter to a minimum.

It really is a great group if people. We have all levels of skill. So no matter where you slot in you will find people to race with.

The handy cap system has been something that we have been working on for quite some time and it really seams to be working well. It takes a race or three for it to start bringing the parity between drivers.

Last season the series came down to the last corner of the last lap and a couple thousands of a second at the line. Very exciting!!!!

All this being said it is for fun. I personally prefer to have a close race for last than a run away victory.

One other thing is we have started using yellow flags. If there us a big incident that takes out a good portion of the field we have called a yellow to bring things back together. We have been playing with this some. There is no set rule for it yet. Kind of a thing that is situation dependant.

So in short please come join us. The more people we have the more fun for everyone.

EDIT: The biggest thing you have to watch for is the draft. It us set to high to promote passing coming out of corners. The problem is you can easily miss judge your speed coming to the end of a strait resulting in what we call the wall slam. I will say that if you find you have missed the brake point it is always better to hit the wall or take your self out instead of ramming someone in front of you. I have been racing gt6 with this group for years now and it is something that still catches me out every now and then. There are other things but that is some if the things we talk about leading up to the races.

Bumping this back up. We are back to "racing" tonight. I will probably open a room around 8:00 eastern as I need some testing time. 9:00 or so qualifying.

All are welcome and even if you jump in late it is no problem.
