Didn't GRM do a test way back that put sway bars, shocks, and +1 wheels/tires on a Del Sol and got it to 1.02g on the skidpad? Not that it became a Miata, just trying to remember the quick potential.

It doesn't hurt that the origins of the Del Sol come from the double wishbone era of hondas where there are tons of parts available to chose from. Find a rare B16 model, Koni yellows, type r springs and sway bars and you pretty much have an OEM+ setup.
