I tried to get some free horsepower (stickers) for the new WRX from the SCCA this morning, just got a reply that they have been reaching out to Subaru for the program and have not heard anything as of yet.
The Subarust still has the decals from 4-5 years ago. Are they shifting from WRC to competing with Audi quality comfort now with the new Impreza?
In reply to Jerry:
They probably realized that no Subarus will be legal to compete thanks to the no windshield cracks rule.
Likely distancing themselves after the warranty issues with transmissions after cars were actually campaigned in SCCA events that Subaru helped buyers get access to with their free SCCA membership.
I thought too I heard rumors that if you actually participated they would basically deny any warranty claim on the car.
Looks like Subaru has dropped their contingency. 2017 contingencies were just released at this link and there is nothing from Subaru.
It is interesting to see that MaxSport is offering a contingency this year. I was not impressed with the one tire design of theirs that I tried, but it is always good to see more involvement!

That IS interesting, given that, unless something's changed that I'm not aware of, you have to quasi-legally import them yourself, no US distributorships.

But the website says coming Summer 2016.

Subaru probably has all their cash tied up in ARA now....they must be paying more than they did to RA, seeing as all of us now have to have Subaru logos on our door cars (including those of us driving other makes)...
Alternate answer to this post: Try doing motorsports with a BMW, and you will realize what ZERO company support really feels like

IIRC Andy Thomas used their grass tire last year and basically dominated the strong DC region in a mostly-stock Celica with an open diff....

If other rally tires are any indication, they'll cost twice as much to buy in the US as they do to order from overseas, which will basically negate any benefit of the contingency (same goes for Maxxis). I can order four Maxxis tires from the UK for the price of about 2 1/2 tires from Maxxis US distributor (and that's taking shipping into account).
I'll keep ordering my $100 DMacks from England, personally ($180 or so in the US, and shipping isn't much better).

My Maxxis tires were cheaper last year ordering from the US than importing them would have been.
you must have a secret source, because the Maxxis USA site sure as hell isn't...
Also they don't make the size I want so it's a moot point for me anyhow.
IIRC Subaru also dropped their good incentives for being a IMBA member I.E it was invoice - $250. It seems subaru has stopped caring about the customer.
In reply to MrChaos:
to be fair, I think they just stopped caring about the niche motorsport customer, unless their last name happens to be Higgins. Most of the ringlands and transmission issues stems from tuners or those involved in motorsport. They're yet to turbo the direct injection motors, the STI is running a nearly 20 year old EJ platform and they're moving into the stage of offering CVTs in just about everything. They're pretty much doing a late 90s Nissan when the post B13 Sentra got fat, the Maxima got heavy, long and started to sway away from selecting your own gears and someone decided that development and launch of the Versa, Rogue and Altima were okay and not overly vanilla or boring. It's the pattern of Malaise within a company.

Ordered direct from Maxxis. Then won 2 tires at the east coast challenge. $800 for 6 tires is better than I can get them from overseas. If I can win more tires this year on my initial $800 investment my cost will get even cheaper per tire.
In reply to captdownshift:
I mean they are not an IMBA(International Mountain Bike Association) sponsor anymore aka one of their larger customer bases

And all I wanted was some free stickers.

They haven't put the newer turbo DI motor in the STI yet but the WRX has it.

Subaru gave them to you for free? Mazda wanted $28 plus shipping for the official motorsports decal pack. It does come with some swank driver's suit patches too.
