My car is approaching 10 years old and the headlights need to be restored. It's a DIY job and while I'm at it I'm thinking of applying headlight film when I'm done. I'm looking for something with good UV protection and perhaps 10% tint (but no color). Have any of you guys done this? Have any recommendations? The products I'm finding on Amazon and eBay seem pretty dubious.
Lamin-x.com
I think they are/were and advertiser in the magazine
I have done 3 cars this year. Did lamin-x clear on all headlights
lamin x yellow on one set of fogs.
Been using their product 11 years, no problems
I put the Weathertech Lamp Guard ones on my 2011 F-150. Install was kind of a pain, but they held up well. The Weathertech ones are thicker, I think.
I hadn't thought about this. If I spend time to clean up a set of yellowed headlights, can I apply this film to make it a permanent fix? Will once hazy plastic continue to age through the film?
Yep, Lamin-X. Used it on a BMW and again on an R-1100RT that had a plastic (expensive) headlight.
I did Lamin-X on the wife's Xterra 6 years ago after polishing the headlights. The material has held up very well and the headlights have remained clear with no other UV protectant or effort on my end.

Another vote here for Lamin-X. I have had their slightly smoke tinted covers on my 2011 GTI's (low mounted) fog lights since 2011, and they still look and work great.

That looks the business. Added to the list for my jags...
Are you guys using the precut stuff or the bulk roll?
I need to do the headlights on my GMC Acadia and they sell a pre-cut set for $67 or I can get a bulk roll from amazon (marked Lamin-X) for $12 for a 6" x 12" or $29 for a 12" x 24"

Try to confirm it’s a genuine product. I purposefully bought the cheap stuff for my project and while it works it doesn’t look good up close and it was a pain to deal with. I don’t have experience with Lamin-x but it has to be better than the knockoff stuff.

I’m going to clear bra the V after repainting the front end for the second time in three years. Just bought some new headlights so may do them at the same time in clear.
Another vote for lamin-x They are quality. After losing a headlight to a rock(these were upgraded glass lights with a replaceable element, unlike the 10 dollar round stock e28 headlights.) I bought precut clears and yellows for the e28 when I got a new light. Went on easy and have had about 5 years now and they look brand new.

Do the yellow high beams help you see at all, or were they just a style choice?

For my fogs, I bought bulk and did 3 cara fog lights
for headlights on cars that stay in driveway or street, I did pre cut

Just a style choice. What I did discover is that when I flip them on the landscape is surreal and I love it.
