Can't believe they squeezed it in.
Helliata!
I don't think you could get enough tire under a Miata to keep it from smoking the tires off the back.
Then again, I'm not sure I understand the whole burnout thing. Seems like a waste of a engine and car to me. I gave that up during high school when I realized tires weren't cheap.

Even the guy who commissioned the CTS-V-powered Exocet admitted ahead of time it was going to be useless. It was pure for-the-hell-of-it-ness from a guy with a high entertainment budget.

Don't get me wrong, I love it just for the sheer over the top insanity, that a build like that represents. If I had a wad of cash and some spare time, I'd be building some stupid E36 M3 for sure.
Those noises aren’t helping me push Carli away with her “when your truck is paid off I want a hellcat for us to share” comments she’s been making lately. When she found out low mile 15’s are dipping under 40 now it’s like her whole perspective on the world changed
other than the noises that’s silly and I would never let anyone named cletus drive anything

Cleetus isn't his actual name nor does he really act like that all the time, its more of an internet persona. The dude is really quite a good driver and set the 1/4-mile record for GM 6-speed transmission.
God, 245whp in my Miata scares me sometimes. I couldn't imagine tripling that number.
Cleetus is a very good driver - and plays the "Yokel" quite well, but he is quite intelligent. He's raced karts and has a vid of him and his buddy racing shifter karts (and his buddys kids not in shifters lol). if its not his real name i'm a bit suprised. However, he is entertaining and does some very good stuff - i like the show where he took 'Leroy' to the wind tunnel...Leroy is a C5 vette has no body panels if you are not familiar, and runs 170mph in the 1/4 mile - the 'Auction C6' (Ruby) is quite entertaining as well
In reply to NickD :
Correct. It's Garrett Mitchell. Per a few wiki sites, he's worth around 800k from his Cleetus presence.
Sorry to be that guy but i’m too busy building cars to know what youtube stars are building except i found mcm while i was sick in bed last week and now i’m modding my 240 260 280 fairlady nissan datsun to make bulk power to do mad skids
sounds like he is a good driver, but the simpsons made me have caution about cleetus the slack jawed yokel. Some folk’ll never lose a toe, but then again some folk’ll, like cleetus the slack jawed yokel.
While I am glad that someone built it, was not really a fan of the build or the car; I never saw the point. There was no real innovation or purpose for the finished device other than to attract viewers with the promise of something that was over the top. Build skills demonstrated were pretty low level stuff so nothing to learn there either. After hitting the wall and puking oil out of the engine, I assume the project is pretty much done.
Wonder what happens to the car now that they cooked the engine?
Pete
Doesn't look like they actually cooked the motor, since this video was posted after the Cleetus and Cars event.
Seems an even stranger car would have been more interesting? Is Miata getting to that ancient oddball status already?
I'm not a fan of what look like big budget, high dollar build shows making it look like they are "backyard" or as we would say, "Grassroots". They find impossible "deals" and "patch it together" with top level everything so that the "regular guy" feels like he "might-could do it". Maybe I'm being too picky.

This. I used to be amused by it. Now it just seems like a very obnoxious thing that is destructive, wasteful, and environmentally unfriendly. I really hope whenever I tell someone I'm a 'car guy' that is not what they think of.
