This guy is killing me. Already rented the tow dolly, whoops, turns out it's not a Sport model. Still has the Nardi steering wheel and power windows, but probably no LSD rear and no suspension package.

He says the lowest he'll take is $3200. Is this still a good deal? I need to decide within the next couple hours or so.

Yeah that just looks like a "Touring."

I'd still buy it. Beat him down to $3000 for fun.

He's holding steady at 3200. It probably doesn't have LSD. It's either this or that '90 for 2250. Tough call.

If he doesnt take 3 grand waved in his face he's an idiot and you should walk away.

That's what I'd do, too, but then there's a reason that my colleagues painted a picture of Grumpy on my office window .

Seriously, I don't have time for that sort of crap anymore.

Did he change the add? I dont see where the seller said it was a sport.

The LSD is what makes the Sport interesting, without that its just another Miata, he incorrectly advertised it as a Sport so he needs to take a hit.

My .02c

I can't stand when people can't answer a simple question or have no idea what they have. Dealers are extra fun on that one. Wisdom is the benefit of getting older. Patience goes out the window.

That's not a tough call at all. The best 90 in the world isn't going to compete in the slightest against this NB.

I'd pay $3200 for it, i'd just throw $3000 because it'd be fun.

Sport or not, that car is a SOLID buy for $3200, not sure what everyone else is getting at saying to walk away. If you want a Miata, if you want an NB, and if you want a good deal on a solid NB, then you buy that car.

Yes he did. It could have been an honest mistake, but it should have been confirmed before he posted it.

LSD swap can run between $500 and $1000. If he doesn't knock off at least $500 I'd walk.

I'm two hours away, and he's got a guy coming that should be there in the next 5 minutes. I told him $3200, we'll see what the other guy says.

I realize the NB is the better buy, but in the interest of time (I don't have a car) and since I have the dolly and truck, is the NA worth picking up if the NB gets sold? He came down to $2250, comes with leather cover for the top and a strut bar.

For that price? Absolutely.

(and hey - some of us think the '90 is the best Miata and it all went downhill from there...)

Go get the NA. The NB may be the better car, but the NA is the better Miata.

He neglected to show a picture of the driver's side dent...maybe it's really bad.

Thanks for putting up with the newbie. I'm off to look at the NB. Other guy flaked. If I like the NA better, I'm picking it up on the way back. One of these is ending up in my garage tonight!

Power windows, no shock tower brace and no rear spoiler would also tell you this not a sport. I think it's still a good deal, but $3000 is a better one.

I'm the opposite of most Miata lovers, NA's just don't do it for me. I wish I hadn't sold my '99 black sport. That car was a ton of fun.

It doesn't say "sport" anywhere on a Miata sport model. You can't get too wound up if the seller doesn't know if it has an LSD or not. If you really want to know, get the VIN and cal Mazda.

Junkyard_Dog wrote: Go get the NA. The NB may be the better car, but the NA is the better Miata.

The funny thing is that NA owners will put an entire NB under their car while proclaiming that...

Around here, that would be a great buy - sport or no. Most buyers in that price range probably don't consider a LSD a deal breaker, so the buyer is going to sell accordingly. He doesn't state Sport or LSD in the ad...

I have way more Cadillac than NB under my Miata

The NB was rougher than I thought. The dent was literally on the door handle, and even though it didn't affect function, it was ugly as sin, and the whole car had clearly been sideswiped to cause that.

The rear bumper was misaligned from a small stop sign incident. Front fender didn't look quite right either. Soft top had a tear and the seams on top of the door were coming apart.

And the worst part...my knee didn't fit between the Nardi and the inside door handle. Making it near impossible to get my foot on the clutch. It drove beautifully, but I just fit in the NA better. Also, my head touched the top in the NB, and not in the NA.

Walked away from the NB

Side note: Tow dollies and lowered NA's don't mix. My dolly also jumped off the hitch while I was driving. Scary.

I'm getting a full trailer next time.
